Carly Findlay
I am Carly Findlay, a Melbourne woman. I love to write! You may recognise me from my blog called Tune into Radio Carly, which I update regularly. My goal is to branch out in the writing and speaking world and through this, educate people about chronic illness, disabilities, diversity and acceptance. I want to influence the way people perceive disability. I may not be able to stamp out discrimination worldwide. But I could make someone think twice about commenting on someone's appearance or ability.
I work full time, study part time for my Masters of Communication, present on Channel 31's No Limits, and am a freelance writer for DiVine and ABC's Ramp Up. I used to volunteer as a mentor at the Royal Children's Hospital for a great program called ChIPS. I was featured as Woman of the week on Wendy Harmer's website The Hoopla in November 2011.
I won the 2010 Yooralla Media Award for best online commentary, was a finalist in the writing category of the 2011 Best Australian Blogs competition and received a 2011 Australia Day medal for my work in the disability community.
I enjoy listening to music and seeing bands, cooking and eating, reading, media, spending time with friends and family, making things, shopping, and fashion.
