I have lived in Wyoming all my life.It is a beautiful state While growing up I was highly involved in 4-HDuring a visit to my Grandmothers house in Denver, CO she showed me some beautiful scrapes of handmade lace that were called Tatting. There was also the item used to make the lace called a shuttle. My Great Grandmother had left behind these items when she passed away. I had seen a small brochure that had very little information about Tatting in it and no instructions through 4-H. I was around the age of 12 or so & went to Cody, Wyoming with my mom & dad to a Heritage Festival at The Buffalo Bill Historical Museum. As we entered the grounds there was a lady dressed in pioneer clothing and she was Tatting. My dad encouraged me to ask the lady if I could sit with her and learn Tatting. The lady was thrilled and had me sit next to her. After learning with her I bought a shuttle, book, and an Angel pattern. My folks and I walked through downtown Cody and went into a Woolworth. Downstairs had a bargain basement and in amongst the items was a plastic bag full of thread for $5.00 and my dad bought it for me. Years went by and after graduating High School I had a scholarship to attend college at Northwest Community College in Powell Wyoming which is located close to Cody Wyoming. While traveling on a bus performing orchestra concerts I would do my Tatting.A lady that also played in the orchestra came up to me and told me she was the one that taught me. I have been Tatting for 30years.

I recently have been making lingerie underwear for a couple of friends. They've had to be specially made for each person that I made them for this past year. The first pair was made and they tie on the sides. The second pair turned out so neat. My husband came up with a good idea for the second pair I made. He came up with the idea of leaving a gap in between the two rows the make up the strap that comes from the back and goes to the front. The gap was made in order to pull the front design through the gap and then snap them together back on the second design that is made in the front. Absolutely cool idea that he came up with and I just love him to death just knowing that he likes being actively involved in ALL my projects! Sometimes I don't understand exactly the idea he is trying to get across to me, but at least he tries!!!!!!! He learned how to do tatting but he needs new glasses in order to see the stitches!!! TGIF!!!!!!!!!
