Minister Claressa

Bio

I live in Indiana. I am an author of a book titled: Life after Death:The Journey Continues. www.ministerclaressa.com
The book talks about my life after my brother, Clarence Williams and husband, Jerome Patton were murdered in 2005. The homicides were 57 days apart and not related. The homicide of my brother has been solved. My husbands homicide has not been solved. I want to talk about dealing with grief in a healthy manner. We must learn to HEAL IN PIECES.... That means we heal a little bit at a time. It's been 5 years and my heart still aches, but I know healing is a process and I'm willing to go through the process. Let's talk about IT - HEALING IN PIECES......We may not be able to control all that happens in our lives, but we can control how we react to it...

Minister Claressa, you mention healing in pieces. Sometimes, I wonder how big the pieces should be? Some folks feel that what you grief is not done in a fast manner. The pieces should be bigger. I do not agree. I am so sorry to hear about your loss.
How do I deal with grief? I cry, I scream, I want to hurt the ones closest. Eventually, you realize that you are the only one that can make things better. The pieces gradually shrink. You do heal.

Good question. How big should our pieces be? I think it depends on the situation. The greater the hurt, the smaller the pieces.... There are some things that bring us hurt that take a life time to heal. I dont think we should overwhelm ourselves trying to "hurry up and heal." We can take it easy and you are ABSOLUTELY RIGHT... the pieces gradually shrink...

I'm so sorry for your loss. In my country or maybe all over Africa when something tragic happens in your life especially death, you'll be surprised with the kind of support you get from your family (extended) and community. Everyone comes together and heal with you and you really get to understand the importance of family and being surrounded with people who love and care for you. I think that is why we heal quickly and move on with life.

Thank you for your words of comfort. Our family is blessed and we gathered around each other in love and strength. The community reached out to us and it was instrumental in our healing. Without the love of our family and friends our hardship would have been devastating..... Love heals all!!

Hi Minister Claressa. I forgot until I saw my cousin purchase your book at WIN the losses that we experienced in a short period of time in 97... several male first cousins and my brother. In addition, my cousin lost her brother and my uncle within a year. She had not attended WIN in months. God drew her by the Spirit since I hadn't shared your testimony with her.

It is amazing that the grief that I have struggled with the most is regards to dead situations in my life that held so much promise and that I had put too much hope into them. WOW!!! I heal in pieces.

Let's talk about it: Grief, grief all over the world people are grieving about something. How do we deal with grief? Do we cover it up as though it isnt there? do we act out and take our pain out on others? I've been told - "hurt people-hurt people." What do you think? What can we do to HEAL our BROKEN HEARTS???? i WROTE A BOOK ABOUT MY GRIEF --- Life after Death: The Journey Continues.. www.ministerclaressa.com --It's been 5 years since the death of my loved ones...
