One of the most amazing and helpful aspects of the human brain is the subconscious mind. The conscious is the mind we all know;it does our thinking, it registers what we see;it helps us reason, form opinions, and make decisions. The subconscious mind is a veritable computer-a storehouse of all the information taken in by our conscious mind. All our past experience is stored there. So is what we have learned. And it is the worlds best problem solver, providing it is used properly. The more it is used, the more efficient it becomes, and the more efficient you will become using it. For the subconscious mind to produce the solution to a problem, it must first be triggered by the conscious mind. In other words, the conscious mind must focus on the problem so the subconscious mind will have a clear picture of what the problem is. Next, the conscious mind must have a strong desire for a solution to this problem. The stronger the desire, the greater the signal to the subconscious to act. And the conscious mind should desire in positive terms, since negative thoughts create nothing but more negative thoughts. After the conscious mind has tried to solve the problem and has failed, and when it has defined the problem in positive terms and has also established a strong desire for a solution,it should then forget the matter entirely. Let the subconscious take it over. With its limitless ability to create and in its own time, it will analyze the problem and, sometime when you are relaxed and least expecting it, will flash a solution to the conscious mind. Unlike the conscious mind, the subconscious is always working-during your waking hours and while you are asleep. Many a person has had a solution come to him while being totally relaxed or during sleep. Sometimes answers come swiftly, at other times it takes longer. But there must always be a well-defined problem you wish to plant in the subconscious mind and a strong desire for a solution after you have first used all your creative and conscious efforts to solve the problem. John K. Williams, in his cool The knack of using your subconscious mind, list many discoveries that have been the result of subconscious activity. The following excerpt mentions people who were occupied with their hobbies and totally relaxed from the thoughts of their problems when their subconscious flashed an answer. Note, too, that these people are from all walks and levels of life. (the father of photography was an army officer;and of the electric motor; a book-binders clerk. The inventor of the telegraph was a portrait painter; and of the jacquard loom, a dressmaker. A farmer invented the typewriter; a poet, the sewing machine; a cabinetmaker, the cotton gin; and a coal miner, the locomotive. The telephone was the after-school work of a teacher of the deaf; the disc talking machine, the night work of a clothing salesman; the wax cylinder phonograph,a lawyers clerk; the typesetting machine, a grocery man. A physician made the first pneumatic tire because his little son was an invalid)... Written by Adefemi oluwatobi Mcfagite
