K Brimblecombe-Fox
I am a visual artist and author interested in many things from cosmology to coal seam gas, from concepts of perspective to water, from horizons to the potency of age-old symbols. In my paintings I often use the transcultural/religious age-old symbol of the tree-of-life to weave ambigious landscapes, which at one instance may appear to search within the nano, and at another instance may appear to embrace the vastness of infinity.
I write a post on my BLOG once a week and have been doing so since 2006. I post images of my paintings, news, updates plus details about my book 'For Everyone: Words and Paintings'. And, hopefully about future books too!
I am particularly interested in the catalytic agency of art to stimulate conversation either within oneself or others. With this in mind, I try in both my art and writing, not to be too descriptive nor didactic, thus enabling the reader or viewer to be propelled on their own journey, where conversations with self or others open compassionate spaces for relationships of all kinds.
I have a B.A majoring in Art History, from the University of Queensland, Australia. I have worked in curatorial capacities at the Australian National Gallery and regional galleries in S.E Queensland. I regularly exhibit in Australia and have also exhibited in London, Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Seoul. My first book 'For Everyone: Words and Paintings' was published in late 2011 by Balboa Press.
