Kawika Chann
Hailing from sunny Hawaii, abruptly pulling anchor and making a new life in stifling Floribama, then pulling tent pegs and heading for the cloudy North West. A wild trip indeed. Still living a little better than paycheck to paycheck, but we don't kid ourselves, it's all by God's grace that we enjoy what we are able to enjoy. Our move to Portland has been the most challenging in as far as securing a decent living. I was looking for work and hit wall after wall when it came to securing the level of pay that I was used to. Unfortunately, our finances took a heavy hit on our move out here, and we lost our beautiful home in Florida, and soon, everthing else followed suit. It was a slow, methodic, and shameful fall to the bottom. Our credit score went from 740, to I-can't-even-bring-myself-to-look score. I can't believe that with all my experience in management, I couldn't land anything here that would pay more than $12 an hr. But, I have a plan, and I'm taking everyone with me.
I heard a joke; A man prays to God daily on the same thing for years, day after day, "Lord, let me win the lottery, I've done all you asked, and lived right, let me win." The man finally retired on a fixed income, in his frustration, he screamed to the heavens; "Lord, for 40 years I've asked only one thing, what's up?" A crack of thunder sounded, and God answered. "Alright, buy a lottery ticket already!"
Grab your boards, lets find a big wave to ride in on. Peace. Kawi.
