My name is Laura-Rose Saunders and I make up one half of the editorial team for ‘Voices of the 7 Billion’.

At present I am studying part-time for an MA (Hons) in Russian Studies at University College London and working part-time for The British Library. I studied Russian for my BA (Hons) at UCL too, but I also studied Russian at Language Link Moscow, Russia and Czech at the University of South Bohemia in České Budějovice.

In terms of politics I am a Conservative. I first became interested in politics at school while studying for my A-levels, but it was not until I came to UCL that I joined Conservative Future. In the time that I have been involved in politics I have helped to run UCL Conservative Society in the roles of Social Secretary then as the Website and Publicity Officer. I also held the role of Deputy Area Chairman for Bristol and Gloucestershire CF as I am originally from Gloucestershire.

I first started writing while I was at UCL and set up my personal blog, laurarosesaunders.blogspot.com, during my 2nd year. In the past I have written for UCLU Conservative Society, Discover 7 Films, Hackery Blog and UCLU Chocolate Society. My writing has won awards within UCL Union and the Total Politics Guide to Political blogging where my blog is currently ranked as the 30th best Conservative Blog.
