You have a nice blog. I am interested in a lot of the information you have posted. I do feel that it is time for the world to stop fighting and begin to understand that being devoted to God is what is important.

Hello Liaqat
Really good to hear from you. Just had a quick look at your blog and will try to properly read your latest post over the weekend as it is quite long for me and I need time to digest what you are saying.
Hope all is well with you, and have a lovely weekend.

Liaqat
Thanks for fixing the comments section on your blog as it would now be easier to leave comments directly under the right posts. I'll post this reply here (as it may look odd on the blog without the previous replies/responses) and then I can respond to new issues/ questions directly on your blog.

Women/Dress/Rape
I'm glad that at least I have some more clarity of your views in regards to this. That's why it's always good to talk, as it seemed as if you (for one second) condoned what I thought was clearly wrong about women who wear less clothing, but this was not the case. Thanks.

Sharia Law
You see, it makes more obvious sense to follow laws of one's country and debate/discuss/lobby parliament etc when there is conflict of opinions. I am also aware that you can do this in England but democracy does not rule everywhere.

I'm glad that you ask muslims to share awareness of the Islamic Sharia, because there is a great amount of confusion in what muslims are trying to implement and the underlying issues of why.

I will continue to read your blog with interest and make comments as and when I am able to. Thanks for all the explanations and for being patient.

Hi Liaqat
I have tried to leave a comment several times today on your recent post about Sharia law, but it seems that I need to have a face-book account, which I don' have. I have therefore left my comment here for you. Hope you don't mind this.

Punishment
Yes, I do see your point on some of these issues raised in your post but firstly, in regards to punishment by chopping off one's hand for theft, seems like a good deterrent but how many times have we seen in various countries around the world when man gets his facts wrong the innocent are wrongly punish? No law is so perfect in this area. It is still man that makes a judgment call. So I am someone reserved here.

How do you also gage what is a big theft or little theft? My gold watch may not be of any value to the law but it was bought by the sweat of my brow. A rich person may have 10 gold watches and believes it is also of the same value just because he paid for it.

Women
I am slightly confused over the issue that wearing a hijab will stop you from being molested. Naturally, any man who had intentions, whether it be to rape or commit sexual assault will firstly have no issue in attacking any woman.
There are incidences where men break into old peoples houses and attack women of 60 or 70 years old. There has rapists who have attacked people who have been fully clothed and over modestly dressed.
If a woman is wearing less clothing, sexually cavorting herself, she may become more of a target but regardless to how much or less she wears, we must always remember that it is the man who is the rapist who is wrong in his behavior every single time. We should be focusing on what he has not and not always blaming the woman, the victim.

You have raised so many issues but time is against me here.

I will ask one further question, although you may not have the answer. Why is it that muslims would want to have their own sharia law in England for themselves, and not follow the law of the land they live in? would it be fair if we lived in a muslim country and insisted that we have our own laws and not follow the muslim law?

If our laws are that bad then we do live in a democratic society where people can vote, lobby parliament, and change the law for everyone to benefit rather than have a particular law for certain people. Can you image the chaos every time someone gets arrested for a crime, you send the muslim to one place, the christian to another, the Buddhist to another and so on... This would do nothing more than to split cultures even more and separate society instead of living together.

Quite a vast amount of information to take in all at once, so I was only able to comment on a couple of things. I do endeavor to return.

Hi
I apologize for the inconvenience caused, I changed the settings & one can now leave comments using their Yahoo, Hotmail & AOL accounts as well using the same facebook comment form. I doNOT mind answering comments anywhere:) So you can feel free to post comments anywhere according to your convenience even here & I will answer them.

Sharia also has a good witness system in which the chances of innocent getting punished is reduced to minimum level possible. In Islamic Sharia you need 2 witnesses for a small crime & 4 witnesses for a serious crime. To prevent people from bearing false witness Sharia says that if any witness is caught bearing false witness that witness gets 80 lashes. So a person would think ten times before bearing false witness. So you can say that the chances of the punishments being executed is pretty low, but since the punishment itself is so tough that any robber would think several times before robbing. So it's a pretty good bargain to get the rate of robbery is reduced to a negligible level just by saying that such a law is imposed. While the punishment may only get implemented once in a blue moon.
But of course a rapist would NOT carry any witnesses with him:) So one may ask what about rape cases? In a case of rape, the victim's testimony, a medical report proving rape & circumstantial evidence are enough are enough to get the rapist punished.
So you see it is perfect it stops the crimes by real serious deterrents, then makes sure innocents doNOT get punished by mistake and plus also makes sure that in a case such as rape, the rapist gets punished.

Chopping Hands of the Thief
In my post I mentioned first about Zakat (compulsory Charity) & how it fulfills the needs of the poor. Now after fulfilling their needs this punishment is laid down. Now lets get to your question about the amount robbed.

I only meant that if someone steals a piece of bread or a buck to buy some bread that doesNOT mean he would get punished for that because he is in real need and stole only a buck. While on the other hand if someone steal a gold watch, we can clearly know that this person was not really needy and must have had other motives because we are talking about a GOLD watch now be they one or 10 a gold watch is a gold watch and is quite expensive & the thief would of course get punished.

Women
You rightly said & I do agree that the rapist is responsible and that is why in Sharia the rapist is given death penalty. The victim is NOT punished by any means. But you also rightly pointed out that the woman who is NOT properly dressed might just become more of a target. So Islam wants to protect the women & prevent them from BECOMING A TARGET LIKE THIS.

I agree with you that every country has & should have the SAME CRIMINAL LAW for all its citizens. Islam tells us that we should respect and follow the law of any country we live in, as long as it doesNOT stop us from doing something which is COMPULSORY in Islam or compel us to do something which is PROHIBITED in Islam. For example, if ANY country makes a law which STOPS Muslims from offering their OBLIGATORY PRAYERS, then we would NOT follow THIS PARTICULAR law. Or suppose if ANY country country makes a law which makes it COMPULSORY TO DRINK ALCOHOL OR EAT PORK which are prohibited in Islam then we will NOT follow THIS PARTICULAR law. Otherwise Islam tells us to respect and follow all other laws of our country. So I respect and am ready to follow any law of England as long as it doesNOT stop me from doing something compulsory in Islam or compels me to do something prohibited in Islam. So Muslims should respect the laws of the countries out there.

I agree with you and that is why I advise my Muslim brothers & sisters in UK and around the world that they should spread awareness about the Islamic Sharia and remove misconceptions about it and prove to the people how Sharia has the solutions to their problems. If people are interested then they can themselves vote, lobby parliament and get the law they think can solve their problems.

I am looking forward to any other questions or counter questions you may have.

Hi Liaqat
Thank you so much, I will be fully reading your comment in the next day or so, as busy, but I truly appreciate it. I will also take a look at your blog about the shariah stuff because there has been a lot of talk about this in London with a lot of opposition from non-muslims. It would be very interesting to know exactly what this is about. Thanks again, and I will ask people to also take a look at your blog in the meantime.

Liaqat Qazi ∙ 27 Mar, 12

My pleasure:)

Rumpunch Drunk ∙ 25 Mar, 12

Hi Liaqat

Please would you be willing to have a look at my recent post called 'Religion of Terror' and only if willing and happy to do so, then comment as someone who follows Islam or knows about Islam, as so far I have had a couple of different views but not from a muslim perspective, which could be very valuable. Thanks in advance, even if you don't agree or don't wish to comment.

I had a look at your blog and feel you may be qualified to give a view on this.

Liaqat Qazi ∙ 27 Mar, 12

Left my comments on your site. I hope they are helpful in understanding Islam. Thanks for contacting me.
