I've spent my career in marketing, first on the client side (Marketing Director, Better Homes and Gardens Books) and other publishers.
Then I hired a marketing agency and started watching the people there create direct marketing programs that really helped build our business. Their creative strategies really moved thousands of books.
I decided to go "agency side" and went to work for Wunderman, and then went on to head up J. Walter Thompson Direct in Canada, and then in NY, Saatchi & Saatchi's AC&R. Geller Direct was formed by TBWA. Then I started my own agency, Mason & Geller and for the last 3 years, Lois Geller Marketing Group.
I've written 5 books on Marketing, do many speeches for large groups, became a social media strategist, and appear on many radio shows. My claim to fame is that all the programs we do at my agency are measurable, and get results for our corporate clients.
I find blogging gives me a platform for teaching, like I had when I was in New York, as a professor of Marketing at NYU.
http://www.joyofdirectmarketing.com is a way for me to keep in touch with many of my students, clients, friends and my social media community that has grown to almost 16,000 people. It is a joy to be in marketing and I hope I express that in my blog.
