Today at film class, my groupmates and I looked at different western movies for ideas for our projects and took out different roles. We decided to pick ‘The Alphabet Scene’ from Almost Heroes to film. The scene doesn’t require much work physically as it shows two people – a teacher and a student – sitting in a dimly lit room where the teacher was teaching the student the alphabet. We then had some scheduling conflicts which we need to work out. I have high hopes for this project and I’m sure everything will turn out alright ☺

Today at film class, we watched more western movie clips. Ms. Rosati showed us a very wide variety of western movies and I thought they were all very interesting and showed excellent filming techniques. After that, we got split into groups. I got grouped with some people I’m not familiar with, so I think it’ll be a good experience and I have a feeling filming is going to work out really well ☺

Today at film class, we watched the finished products of all the groups.
It was really fun and entertaining; there were 3 short musicals:
Infectious Love, which was about a human and a zombie falling in love. I thought it was really funny, but the last part where the zombie revealed its true identity and ate the human was a bit weird. I enjoyed the musical though :) I thought the group did a great job and the whole thing was really well cut.
There was also a musical about spies. I forgot the title but it was probably 'Spies'......it was really funny, but the camera was a bit shaky and the storyline was a bit confusing. But I really liked how they went to all sorts of places to film.
And there was our musical, William. I thought the whole thing came out great. We spent a lot of time shooting and only ended up with 3 minutes of footage (since we had a scene missing) but I liked how things turned out and our hard work paid off.
I think this has been an incredible experience and I had loads of fun shooting the musical :)
Today in Film class, our group filmed the dodgeball scene.
Some of us couldn't focus and spent the whole lesson throwing dodgeballs at other people, which was really frustrating. One particular group member got really mad and threw tantrums while some others just goofed off, so it wasn't a very productive filming session, but in the end we finally came through and focused on filming.
We definitely could've been more focused and I wasn't really happy with some of my group members throwing dodgeballs around (not just because I got hit in the face a few times) but we did manage to get some work done so I'm pretty happy about it :]

At the last film class, we basically discussed the short musical among our groups. We finished scripts and talked about roles and other things. I got assigned to be a choreographer. That should be interesting - I've never choreographed before (in any way) and I doubt that I'm gonna be really good at it, but I've always been open to trying new things, and choreographing sounds fun :] I have a good feeling about our group's musical. I think it's going to turn out pretty well :D

Today at Film class, we learned more about the history of musicals and watched some old clips of famous classic musicals. It was all really interesting. Some clips were in black and white and I thought it was really cool.
We then got split into groups and had to share ideas of our own original musicals with each other. Being the new girl, I just sat there like a potato :0 But I heard some really cool ideas and I can't wait to see what we have to do as a group :D

Today at Film class, we learned about the basics of a camcorder and Ms. Rosati taught us how to use it. I had never used a camcorder before so I was really confused at first, but Ms. Rosati was really patient and in the end, I got the hang of it.
Setting up the camcorder on the tripod was a bit complicated for me, but I just paid extra attention and in the end, I was able to set it up. I've learned a lot today and I'm sure I can benefit from it in the future.
And now my dad isn't the only one who knows how to use a camcorder in my family! :]
Today at Film class, we watched a few short clips from the movies 'Singing In The Rain', 'Step Up 2' and 'Westside Story' to learn about genres and musicals. It was all very entertaining and interesting. We learned how to look for clues of the genre in movies, how to determine the genre and more.
The teacher gave us a heads-up on upcoming assignments: She told us that we'd have to film our own musical, with our own original songs and plot. I'm a new student in CIS and I didn't get the chance to do this kind of stuff in my old school, so it's all very new to me. But I've liked this class so far, so...this might be fun :]

We had our alphabet scene from Almost Heroes shot and did some editing today. We went through all of our clips, cropped them and put some of them together.
We had shot our scene over the holidays and I'm pretty happy with how it turned out. We forgot to check out our equipment and had to film using an iPhone, but the effect came out alright and I'm excited to see how our film looks when it's finalized :]
