The inaugural Nenagh Silent Film Festival will be held from Thursday February 14th to Sunday February 17th, 2013, in the principal town of North Tipperary right in the heart of Ireland. Nenagh town and the surrounding parishes have long had connections to the world of film and television. Reginald Montgomery Ingram Hitchcock, who would later shorten his name to Rex Ingram and would go on to become one of Hollywood's greatest silent-era directors (Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse, The Prisoner of Zenda, etc ...), lived for a number of years in Nenagh town and also in the nearby small town of Borrisokane. Martin Sheen, and fellow thespian sons Charlie Sheen and Emilio Estevez, have strong roots in North Tipperary and are frequent visitors to the area; the Hollywood actor Patrick Bergin (Robin Hood, Sleeping with the Enemy, etc) resides near Cloughjordan, which is a few short miles from Nenagh town, Johnny Depp is known to be a regular visitor to Nenagh and her environs, where famous musician Shane McGowan comes from; and George Clooney is rumoured to be in search of his roots in Tipperary and Kilkenny. There are also several Irish television personalities, producers and script-writers who were either reared in this locality or have made Nenagh and North Tipperary their home. So this Valentine's Weekend - Love the Nenagh Silent Film Festival
