RealistMom
I’m a super creative mom living a perfect life in Upstate NY. My three children are wonderful – they do their own laundry, excel in school and speak four languages. I eat only organic food that I grow myself in a repurposed antique bathtub.
No. Not really.
I do have three amazing kids who bring so much laughter and love to our life. They also generate a staggering amount of laundry, are without an “inside voice” and have yet to master the concept of cleaning up after one’s self.
Me? When I’m not shuttling the kids around or taking care of the aforementioned laundry, I am a runner, a sewer/quilter, and a marginally acceptable cook. I like to learn – and I love to share what I learn. I am a transplant to the bucolic town where I now live having spent my formative years in Brooklyn, NY. That makes me a little bit blunt and a lot loud.
I call myself a realist mom because I think there are too many pressures on moms to be perfect – to do it all. Do I wish I was a fantastic cook who makes all her kids’ clothing and grows all her own food? Maybe. The reality of my life is that I find cooking a challenge, my kids really have no interest in wearing clothes I make and, as far as I know, I can’t grow an Oreo tree in the yard.
I want to celebrate REAL life – where we’re surrounded by laundry, the kids whine and fight, we make mistakes and sometimes we just eat take-out. With all the dirt and yelling and dog fur, my life is still just perfect to me.
