The 26th Annual Rice PTA Halloween Party is coming up fast! The event is taking place on Sunday, October 31st from 3 to 6 p.m. Game tickets are only 25 cents each or 5 for a $1.00. Haunted House tickets are 50 cents each. There will be treat bags, face painting, tattoo parlor, raffle of cool prizes, food, photo opportunities, so dress up and come enjoy the fun! And to make this successful we need volunteers! Please plan to volunteer in anyway you can to make this a fun and safe event for the kids. Thanks to all of you who attend our October 14th PTA meeting. Again we had a great turnout! Lots of ideas were shared and we have a couple of committees working on some big projects.

Don't forget - our next PTA meeting is Thursday, October 14th at 6:30 p.m. in the media center at school. A special treat for those who attend! Also, Halloween party fliers will be sent out soon. Please plan to volunteer or donate for this awesome annual event!

PIN night was a great success! We had so many comments about having the "free kids supervision" so parents could learn what goes on in the classroom. It was an added plus to have a meal available so families could socialize together. A special thanks to Mark from Old Creamary for providing service to cook the food, MN Beef Council for donating the beef, Pine Cone Coborn's for donating beans and condiments, and to Boss Concrete for donating the chips. A great big thanks to all the many volunteers who helped with selling tickets, serving food, and most importantly supervising the kids.

Don't forget to attend PIN night at school on Thursday, September 30th and stop in the cafeteria for a meal (sponsored by the Rice PTA). The admission for the meal is $3.00 per person (ages 4 & up) and we are serving from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. The meal is burgers with all the fixings, beans, chips, ice cream treat, & juice or water. There will be a free will donation if you want an extra burger or ice cream treat. Special thanks to Old Creamery, MN Beef Council, Fritolay, Pine Cone Coborns, & Pan-O-Gold for their donation of goods and services.

Our first PTA meeting was a great success! It was well attended and we have already created 2 subcommitees. Liz Kiffmeyer will be heading up the Fundraiser subcommittee and Brenda Hommerding will be in charge of the Halloween Party! Thank you to all the parents and teachers who participated. It is going to be an exciting year working with all of you!

Thanks to all of you for stopping by our table at the Open House last night. Many of you signed up to be members and there seems to be a lot of interest in our program. It is so wonderful to see so many parents genuinely involved in their children's lives! We are looking forward to our first meeting on Tuesday, September 14th in the Media Center at school at 6:30 p.m. Hope to see everyone there!

Summer is coming to an end and school is beginning next week! The Rice PTA Float was well received in the Rice Fun Day Parade and it was a lot of fun putting it together.

Be sure to stop in at the PTA booth during Open House at Rice Elementary school on September 1st! There are so many positive things by becoming a member of the PTA. Ice cream treats will be available to everyone. As a bonus you can sign your child up to win a prize if you become a member. Come and check us out, join, support, share, volunteer, the list goes on and on!
