I have bipolar disorder type 1 from which I am currently in remission. In addition, I am a domestic violence survivor with 14 years of freedom, although I have PTSD. I blog because I want people to know they're not alone in their struggles. I'm open and honest about all aspects of who I am, hoping that somehow I can reach out to someone else who might need to hear that I can and have overcome my own trials. It's also important to me to fight the stigma attached to mental illness, and I try to give as accurate information as I can.
I have two amazing daughters, a fantastic son-in-law, three awesome grandsons, and the most unbelievably wonderful significant-other (what the hell else am I supposed to call him when we're in our 50s?).
My interests include jewelry design, aromatherapy, reading, writing, fine arts, chocolate, cooking, baking, goofing off, domestic violence advocacy, and mental health advocacy. I am an avid reader and read mostly mysteries, suspense, and detective fiction. Lately I've been reading some books about different aspects of spiritualism as I have embarked on a journey of finding something that seems to be missing from my life.
I live with goats, chickens, cats and my beloved one on 13 acres in a beautiful rural area of southern Ohio.
