I am an attorney that practices in the areas of family law, i.e. child support, custody, divorce, abuse/neglect, criminal and civil. I have a MSW since 1987 with a specialty in children and families. I believe that children need both parents in their lives if possible. I stand for strong families, strong fathers, strong children and strong communities. I view most situations holistically. As I begin to blog you will understand what a holistic view is. If we help the fathers who have a criminal record clean up their criminal past via an expungement when they have paid their debt to society they then can pay child support, provide financially for their family, obtain gainful employment and not steal our copper, hub caps or break in our homes and thus the community is protected.

We have received so many request and rsvp's for the next expungement workshop. About My Fathers' Business expungement workshop will be held on August 21, 2010 at11:00 a.m. at 19018 Hawthorne in Detroit. The host Pastor is Rev. Lovejoy Johnson II of New Bethlehem Church. This workshop will include an additional piece to help those folk interested in working for themselves. We are growing and expanding.

Outstanding! Today we had over 60 RSVP's for the About My Fathers' Business expungement workshop today. They were lined up early in the hall anxiously awaiting the start of the presentation. We have so many folk who feel stuck in their situation. One participant asked the question; can I expunge my criminal conviction if the first conviction happened 39 years ago and the second conviction was 33 years ago and I haven't had any more criminal activity since? Unfortunately, the current Michigan law will not allow a person in that situation to expunge either convictions. What do you think could be modified in the statute to allow such a person to clear his or her record. Is there any suggestion?

On this Saturday, July 24, 2010 I am presenting "About My Fathers' Businness" Expungement Workshop. It will be held at New Bethlehem Church located at 19018 Hawthorne, Detroit, MI 48203 and Rev. Lovejoy Johnson, II is the Pastor. Why would I present such a workshop if I'm an advocate for children and families? Well it's a natural progression and I view it wholistically. Help our family members, especially fathers clear up their criminal record if at all possible and they can become gainfully employed, more productive in the lives of their children and less likely to feel like a cat in a corner with no place to go and take your copper, hub caps or even worst, out of desperation and a need to fed themselves. I'm not justifying any criminal behaviors. I'm just stating some real possibilities. That is one wholistic view! What's your view or thought?
