Bio

A writing 'enthusiast',an international volunteering 'freak' and a sustainability futurist.Through my travels in and around South East Asia,I have discovered that People living in Villages are much more Self sustainable and self reliant. Its the 'urban economy' and the frenzy attached to it,that draws them to an un-Sustainable eco-sphere.
Irony is,the tools we need to be Sustainable,we already posses them. Its just that we don't know it Yet,In Totality.

Hence,the Message - Sustainable Sphere.

BE SUSTAINABLE ..... BE GREEN and Healthy !!

Among the Low Carbon Technologies, Carbon Sequestration is the technology to Capture and Carbon Capture and Store Carbon. This technology has been proposed as the way to slow the atmospheric accumulation of Green House Gases.Since the 1970's in USA, CCS has been used in Petroleum and Power Industry to remove Carbon di oxide from Flue gases and to store it in Underground reservoirs,Carbon sinks or Saline Aquifers. Thus preventing the CO2 from entering into the atmosphere contributes to reduction of anthropogenic or human induced climate change.

Green Business models support the development of Products and Services with Environmental benefits.Green business growth models can either rely on Technological overhaul of the existing systems or can develop Innovative Business models utilizing the existing systems itself. For example, a Refrigerator Manufacturing company can sell a Number of Cubic feet of space with a lowered temperature for a (certain period of time as long as the customer needs it),while the company owns the Unit. The incentive is to save the life cycle costs including Energy savings, Maintenance and Disposal.Such Innovative new solutions can radically change the Green growth story.

Urban agriculture is fast becoming an alternate model of an industry. The purpose of Urban farming is to respond to the nutritional demands of the city, from within that city.Urban agriculture expands the economic base of the city through production, processing and marketing of consumable products within the city. Also this helps to counter the chronic problem of Food insecurity.

It refers to an improved Electrical Supply chain which runs from Power Plants to an Individuals home.It adds monitoring, analysis, control and communication capabilities to the existing electrical delivery system. Also, it provides real time decision making abilities to homeowners, businesses to make choices for saving their energy costs. For example - You may want to dry your clothes at 10 C per KWH at 9:00 AM rather than at 20C per KWH at 2:00 PM in the afternoon. A smart grid will help you in making such informed decisions and much more.

E-waste is growing in India at the rate of 10% every year. Major recycling of e-waste is carried out in the non-formal sector using primitive and hazardous methods. The hazardous and toxic substances found in e-waste include lead (Pb) and cadmium (Cd) in printed circuit boards (PCBs).A survey was carried out by the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) during 2005. It was estimated that 1.347 lakh MT of e-waste was generated in the country in the year 2005, which is expected to increase to about 8.0 lakh MT by 2012.

Sustainability in Transport should address the issue of depletion of resources such as : energy, human and ecological habitats, atmospheric carbon loading capacity, and individuals’ available time. The need to plan for sustainable transport is evident as Global warming poses significant challenges for cities. According to the World Resources Institute (2005),the transportation sector accounts for 24.1% of CO2 emissions worldwide, yet its importance in local commuting, linking the global system of cities, and stimulating economic interactions is crucial. Concrete 'solutions' acceptable at an international level have been slow to emerge. Each country is constrained by its individual setting and hence faces unique hurdles in moving towards sustainability.

http://www.sustainable-sphere.com/2012/03/21st-century-urban-city-planning.html

The main factors governing Urban planning are: Climate Change,Resource Depletion,Food Insecurity and Economic Instability. If cities have to be sustainable for the future these issues have to be addressed immediately. An argument was put forward in the meetings of UN Habitat world forum and the World planners congress in Vancouver, 2006 that the profession of Urban planning has to be reviewed under the light of policies which are pro-poor and create sustainable livelihoods at the center of planning efforts.

When people come from different countries, it is fun to discuss differences in foods, music, dress, and words. There are also big differences in things that people think are right and wrong, rude and polite. But there are also interesting and useful differences in the ways that people think and work together.

http://www.sustainable-sphere.com/2012/02/sustainable-supply-chain-management.html

The Supply chain considers the interaction between a Business, the customers and the suppliers.Earlier, manufacturers used to drive the supply chain,by controlling the pace at which products were manufactured and distributed. However, today retailers drive this agenda.Retailers participate in Re-evaluating a company's supply chain, from purchasing, planning, and managing the use of materials to shipping and distributing final products, with an emphasis on improving environmental and social performance.
