In 2005, I was hired as an Assistant Attorney General by the Louisiana Department of Justice to represent the state in all campaign and election law issues.
I received an undergraduate degree in communications from Louisiana State University in 1981. I worked in television news from 1981 until 1991 covering politics and state government. I was hired as a political consultant by Bill Morgan in 1991 and worked on all facets of campaign media until 1994 when I was hired to be Press Secretary for LA Lt. Governor Melinda Schwegmann. I served as Press Secretary and Communications Director for the Department of Culture, Recreation & Tourism until I was hired as LA Press Secretary for Clinton/Gore '96 and Southern Regional Press Secretary for the Presidential Inaugural Committee. I returned to LA in 1997 and entered law school where I graduated from Southern University Law Center in 1999.
From 2000 to 2005, I had a private law firm representing clients in campaign, elections, media, and communications law issues. I also provided clients governmental relations services before state legislatures and congress.
I currently represent all 64 registrars of voters in LA and I travel the state speaking to groups about campaign and election issues, as well as redistricting and Section 5 Preclearance issues.
