Jess Allen is the author of the fitness blog Blonde Ponytail that emphasizes running and nutrition with frequent glimpses into the life of a coach’s wife. She uses humor combined with motivational and informative posts to engage readers.
Jess is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist as recognized by the National Strength and Conditioning Association (CSCS-NSCA). She graduated from Stanford University where she was an outfielder for the Cardinal Softball program. Jess went onto coach college softball several years at Creighton University before entering the higher education field. Additionally, she was a personal trainer for Optimum Fitness Omaha where she trained clients using personalized nutrition and exercise plans, developed corporate wellness programs, and taught group fitness classes.
Jess ran her first marathon in October 2010 which ignited her running journey. She completed her second marathon in May 2011 and has 4 half marathons scheduled in 2011. As long as her legs hold up, she plans to keep racing and learning from each training cycle, passing that information onto readers.
Presently, Jess is an academic advisor at Washington State University where her husband coaches baseball and fitness instructor at NIAC, teaching HIIT, Abs Blast and Spinning classes.
