I am a poet who loves to read other good poets. I love writing. I love the look and sound of words. Writing is my lifeline to sanity. On my blog Poet With An Opinion (http:www.dcbanks.blogspot.com) I write about a variety of subjects from politics to history, my favorite subject..

Because I am so opinionated,. I often read news on other sites and post my opinion. I don't respond to posters who disagree with me, because the back and forth can get out of hand. Once I express my point of view I move on to the next story.

I am in the process of encouraging my best friend and sister to start a blog. I can't seem to knock down their fear of not knowing what to write. They think no one wants to hear what they have to say. i tell them everyone has a poem and story locked inside them, and its waiting to see the light day. The same applies to blogging. At least that's what i think.

Criticism of both kinds are useful. While attending college my professors red lined a lot of my essays and creative writing papers. Though angry in the beginning, I realized that the criticism forced me to write better essays and other writing assignments. Positive criticism should be earned., not automatically ...
