What you did on stage was extemporaneous speaking-wherein you were given the topic on the spot and you had to work on it at that allotted time. You should be grateful you didn't experience stage fright-knees shaking, sweating all over, tongue-tied,etc. What you went through was pure nervousness and over anticipation which was understandable and manageable.
Let me share with you a similar story. During the Ms Universe Pageant in Las Vegas last month, our own Ms Philippines fumbled and stammered in the interview portion. She almost got the crown (she was a stand-out beauty) and a favorite among judges, but she her answer was quite inane. When Alec Baldwin asked her, "WHAT IS THE BIGGEST MISTAKE OF YOUR LIFE AND WHAT DID YOU LEARN FROM IT?" Venus snapped,"There is no major, major mistake in my life...everything is perfect." The audience were all in a chagrin.She made them all feel she was self-righteous and hypocrite. Because as we all know, every human being, in one way or another, has done a mistake or two in his life.
