DistantDreamer: I did as you have said, I copied and pasted the badge on the blog tumblr from the bolgger. But, the yellow on the blogger doesn't go... :(

Hi I had the same problem. If you go onto your profile your blog should be highlighted yellow. Click verify there rather than at the top of the screen. Then click add badge to your blog and then it should work. Mine did anyway. I also manually added the badge to my blog by copying and pasting the code into and HTML widget.

Hope this works for you like it did for me :)

How to verify blog ownership? I have added the badge.

Still I am getting an option "IMPORTANT: You are requested to Verify Blog Ownership immediately. Unverified Blogs may be flagged or permanenty discarded. Add Badges Now".
