Thelma And Louise

CALGON TAKE ME AWAY!!! That is one of my favorite lines to my friend, Louise, as my two youngest boys run around the house, screaming! I am Thelma. We refer to ourselves as Thelma and Louise, because there are many a day that we want to just drive off a cliff!!! Of course, we want to play with Brad Pitt along the way! We are both everyday wives and mothers in Montana. We strive to keep our boys (we have SIX of them, collectively - ok, technically EIGHT, counting the MEN) active and happy. We strive to keep our husbands active and happy. But mostly, we struggle to keep ourselves active and happy - and sane!!

I am happy to announce that Thelma and Louise have NOT driven off a cliff! After some major techical difficulties and computer down time, we are back! Thelma here. Finally, we are getting some sunshine in the Big Sky country! Baseball has been miserable, but I was finally able to wear a short-sleeved shirt, and even had shorts on for awile during the day! The creek behind our house is roaring - the snow pack is thawing too quickly, so of course, now flooding is a problem. Not for us, personally, however, as our homes are far above the water. So, it is officially baseball season, and my boys have been busy! Yesterday my 12 year old had four games, starting at 7:45, I might add! Who the hell schedules baseball games that early? The players always have to be there at least an hour early, so it makes for an early start! He is playing again today at that same time, so same story. My oldest son also had a game yesterday, so we had games from 7:45 am to 7:00 pm! I'm noticing the black circles under my eyes are getting harder to cover up! At least I'm not out at the game. My two year old is a fairly early riser, and a very busy boy! I cannot get him to sit down for 5 seconds at a game, so it is difficult to watch a game!

HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY to all mothers out there - and especially to the mothers of BOYS! (Belated, I know, I am always late for everything!) Louise, I would especially like to wish you a Happy Belated Mother's Day - you are a GREAT Mother! Here's how my Mother's Day started: I was awakened by my two year old at 5:45 am. So much for my one day of the year to sleep in! My husband puts a pillow over his head and rolls over, and I get up and make my littlest man breakfast. Shortly thereafter, my six year old gets up and starts to antagonize his brother, who responds with squaking, shrieking, or screaming. I am trying to finish putting together a picture frame for my own Mother, as we were having brunch with my family, (late for everything, remember?)and I can't even think straight. I ask them to stop, and it continues. I ask them to please stop, and it continues. I was so exhausted, I just broke down in tears. About that time, my husband enters the picture, and says, "Are you guys making your mom cry on Mother's Day?!?" Like I told Louise, next year I want to spend Mother's Day all alone - isn't that awful? Don't get me wrong, I love my boys dearly, It's just that I don't get a lot of alone time, right Louise? We did have a wonderful brunch - excellent food, excellent service. Not without incident, however! My husband and I were finishing our breakfast, and our boys were all outside with their cousin, Grandma, and my sister. Within about 15 minutes my sister comes running in to announce that my little guy "took a tumble" outside. He had come running down a little hill, out of nowhere, at full speed, right into an old wooden merry go round thing that was right at his head level!!! My oldest son had yelled his name to get him to stop, but at two years old, he just could not put on the brakes! My sister said before she knew what was happening, my baby boy was catapulted backward, and all she saw were tennis shoes in the air! Poor little guy. We got some ice right away, and actually the bump didn't get as big as I thought it would. At least not as big as the one he has on the other side of his head now, from yesterday! But that is another story!
