Bio

I just recently began making handmade authentic Native American jewelry by incorporating traditional and contemporary concepts to produce jewelry with a modern look. I use a lot of turquoise in my designs along with many other stones, shells, and crystals. Turquoise, to many Native American tribes, has a holistic component attached to it, so I use this sacred stone in many of my work. It is my idea to create Native American jewelry with influences of the modern world to create one-of-a-kind pieces.

I still have a lot to learn from a business point of view, but I am always willing to listen and take advice. So if you have any ideas about marketing, networking, advertising, or anything related...please let me know. Also, if you would like to purchase or just visit my site go to: www.keekodesigns.webs.com. I am continuously updating my site and adding new products and information.

In addition, I am keeping in compliance with the Indian Arts and Crafts Board under the U.S. Department of the Interior to preserve indigenous artifacts, so my customers can be assured of the authenticity of my jewelry pieces.

Thank you.

Before I ask you things that I want to know, I want to tell you a bit about myself as a member of a tribe in India. My ancestors were called 'head hunters' by our colonial rulers but the advent of Christianity by 1893 in our state had changed our belief system and suddenly we were 'uplifted' to 'civilization.' Today, traditionalists argue that this sudden change had brought us a certain sense of loss of identity as many of our ethnic cultural practices have been done away with...
Is this the same with the Navajo as a tribe? Or has the Navajo been able to keep its own ethnicity and how is it coping with the ongoing globalisation?
I hope I'm not touching too many sensitive areas...
