GRADUATION IS NEXT TUESDAY jUNE 7th!!!!!!! We will have a short graduation ceremony starting at 11am lasting until about 12pm. Following the graduation procession, songs, and slide show, Ms. Gina and I will host a party (including cake :) in the auditorium. There, you can pick up your child's report card, as well as other graduation materials. Please have your child arrive to the classroom between 10am and 10:30am - NO LATER THAN 10:30!!! Thanks! Look forward to seeing you at graduation!!!

parents - we will have a Valentines party in Kindergarten on Monday February 14th. Valentines cards/candy are welcome, as long as you provide enough for the entire class. Parents, don't miss the important meeting tomorrow night at 7pm in the auditorium. You will learn about the many new changes that will take place next year, as well as get the chance to ask any questions you may have regarding the future of MD.

Monday December 6 - field trip to the California Academy of Sciences! Please pack a bag lunch. We will depart school at 8am and return by 1:30 pm.

Parents - conference day/times are now scheduled, you will be notified today of your day/time (be sure to check your child's backpack!) If you are unable to meet with me at your scheduled time, let me know asap and we can reschedule. Grades are already up on Option C (not final) so you can get a sense of how your child is doing before you meet with me. Thanks!

We had an excellent day at the Pumpkin Patch yesterday!!! We rode on the hay ride, went through a haunted house on a choo choo train, visited the petting zoo, jumped in the jumping house, slid down the blow-up slide, and took home pumpkins the size of our heads!

parents - please give me your email address so that I can add it to the parents email group. The parent email group is an easy way for you to communicate with other kindergarten parents!

Our field trip to the Pumpkin Patch is confirmed for Wednesday, October 13. We will be traveling to Half Moon Bay on a CYO bus. Parents who wish to attend are welcome, but are asked to find their own transportation, as space on the bus is limited.

Our first field trip is coming up soon!!! We will be going to the Pumpkin Patch sometime in the first 2 weeks of October. I will let you know the date as soon as it is pinned down. Start thinking about if you would like to attend and please let me know!

Parents - check option C! Grades are being posted this week. You can follow your child's grades on a daily bases, as their grades will be updated frequently as the school year progresses.

Parents - every Wednesday you will get 2 folders: a blue folder that contains all the school information for the week - please read all forms, sign the back, and return to me ASAP. You will also get a red folder that contains your child's work from the past week. Please keep all work, and return the red folder to me ASAP. Thanks!

OUR SCHOOL YEAR IS JUST AROUND THE CORNER!!! I hope everyone is ready and excited for the new school year to begin - Monday morning, 8am sharp!!! Parents- you can view the list of classroom supplies on the school website. I will also send home the list with your son or daughter on the first day of school. This upcoming Thursday is BACK TO SCHOOL NIGHT - I look forward to see all of you there and to answering any questions you may have! Enjoy the last few days of summer!!!

Ms. Kirsten you get the Teacher All Star Award for giving your students the tools to success by laying the foundation to their future.We appreciate you soooo much and want to thank you publicly for your hard work.Thank you for taking the challenge in making my child a Level 2 First grader.

From now until the end of the year, I will be enforcing a lot of reading and writing activities. Any opportunities you have to continue the reading and writing practice at home is strongly recommended. Suggestions:
take your child to the library and have them pick out books that are at their reading reading level, and are about subjects interesting to them.
Keep a daily journal. We write in a journal every day in class, but having one at home is a good way to keep your child practicing their writing and spelling.

Students will be receiving weekly spelling word lists. Please practice spelling/reading/writing the weekly words as often as possible. I will be conducting weekly spelling tests at the beginning and end of each week.

Parents: please be sure to check backpacks for homework assignments, as I will be assigning homework nightly. Have students complete all work on their own, but guided instruction and review of the material is recommended.

We will be going to the zoo sometime in May, date to be determined. Please look out for further information/permission forms regarding the upcoming trip.
