Freddy Macha is Tanzanian born writer and musician. He has been reporter and columnist for both Swahili and English press since 1976. He won a BBC Poetry Prize in 1981 and a Commonwealth Short Stories award in 1996.
His most recent work is “Mpe Maneno Yake” a collection of Swahili stories published by E & D Limited Ltd in Dar es Salaam, 2006. An interview with respectable Bongo Celebrity Blog in 2008 portrayed him as amongst most influential artists in the East African region and Jamii Forums blog named him as amongst best 25 writers in Tanzania in 2012. Blogging actively since 2007, Macha focuses on features, interviews and photography. He is currently involved with various film and radio productions as researcher , scriptwriter, music composer and presenter.
