On the outskirts of Varanasi, Kristian Bertel searched for local captions in his pictures. The woman was preparing some food. With her red scarf around the head, she was looking anxiously and directly into his camera. Curious and aware of the presence of the photographer, her eyes were telling more than words...
Kristian Bertel (born 1980) is a Danish photographer, who visited the provinces of Delhi, Haryana, Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh in India in 2008.

Nice photos - I remember Varanasi for the crystal clear river - a veritable mountain stream of pure, watery goodness. It smelled like spring and tasted like sunshine.
