I tend to dwell on the serious side of life-me being an artist. I can think more and be more prolific in my writings when the place is quiet and there's soothing music as background. So if there were a joker around who'll throw joke punches at me, he'll ruin the literary ambience.
No, I'm not kill joy either. There's a place for good laughter and I reserve that for my family and friends. On certain occasions, I can laugh along with them. But the only thing not worth laughing about is laughing about other people's stupidities and misdemeanors-that's downgrading. You can laugh about the deed but not the person involved.
