Ever wonder y everything we do w/ our mouths is social? Eating, drinking, talking or kissing. All perfectly executed & none could be accomplished without our mouths. So y is this? I suppose the common thread 2 these activities is attachment; humans, being social creatures need 2 feel something with another individual, so we take all our basic needs n make them social activities. We want 2 share something w/ someone and feel that connection n experience.
This realization came 2 me long ago, b4 I completed a degree in nutrition and culinary college n certainly b4 I began working as a test kitchen coordinator 4 a CAD grocery retailer. I've always been a social person myself who enjoyed the comforts of a home cooked meal, but also loved the experience of exploring another culture through understanding their foodways. What a culture eats, how it's prepared n the social costumes of consumption, offers valuable knowledge of the people, where they came from n who they r.
What I've decided 2 do w/ my curiosity about food n people is create a blog where you'll read about my experiences as I experience them myself. My mission; 2 become personally familiar with the multitude of cuisines that r offered in Toronto. I agree, sounds very grandiose, Toronto could potentially be 1 of the most multiculturally diverse cities in the world. That's ok- I've got time. @ 24, I'm still young enough 2 dream too big n wise enough 2 not make the same mistake twice. Like ordering the extra hot kim chi!
