I was born on January 22, 1972, during the Chinese leap year – the first born child.
I grew and started entering school in a barrio. At a young age, I was called into action, helping with my parents at home and at the rice fields.
My elementary years wasn’t stable. My family moved from my paternal grandparent’s’ place to my maternal grandparents’ for a greener pasture & good living condition.
My father, ‘though a college graduate, had contented himself being a farmer. He died when I was in my 6th grade.
Mother, sister & I had spent and lived with my maternal grandparents after my father’s death. I really did my best to do well in my studies ‘though it was quite hard to compete. I may not be the brightest student in class but I was able to gain some recognitions too that I can be proud of.
My college years were my most unforgettable years in life. I took up and graduated with a bachelor's degree. My mother really tried her best to send me to college. I stayed and lived for three years in a ladies’ dormitory which the Augustinian Recolect Sisters handled and managed. I was really trained there to observe the practices of the Catholic faith and be able to know the value of hardship and education.
On May 22, 1993, I graduated in college and went back home.
