CNA

Today has been a pretty chill day so far. I’m just waiting on my sister to pick me up and tonight my friends and I are definitely in Longbranch. Today I registered for my Cna exam, within the next ten days I should know where and what time I will be taking it. The more I think about it, the more nervous I get because I know I have to pass and get a job in order for everything to go as planned. I talked to my old friend Cierra today and she took the test last week, she told me not to stress and that it would be easier than I thought.

Gay Marriages
There is a voting coming up soon regarding gay sex marriages. The debate is over whether gay marriages will be allowed in the state on North Carolina or not. I just turned eighteen last September so I am going to exercise my voting rights this year. I know gay sex marriages are wrong and are against my religion, but I think the overall outcome of this vote will be that gay sex marriages will be legal. I have spoken to a lot of my peers who are planning on voting this year, and their perspective is “If gay people want to get married, then that’s on them”, stating that they would vote for the legalization of gay marriages.

Wednesdays

I don’t like Wednesdays all that much because it’s the middle of the week and these are the days that take forever for me to get out of class. I have a lot of homework to do and test to study for before Friday. All this week there has been probates around campus so my friends and I will probably go to that, since there is nothing else to do. Friday, I’m going to the probate for the Kappa’s at Nc State in Raleigh. I wonder if their environment and how they do things will be the same as my HBCU school.

Longbranch

Today my sister, cousin, best friend and I brought our tickets to the party at Longbranch in Raleigh on Friday. I heard that this club is supposed to fit over more than 1,500 people. We got vip, no wait in line and free champagne tickets. Vip tickets were only twenty dollars for the early bird special versus paying fifteen dollars for a general tickets at the door. A whole lot of people that I know are talking about going. I already know I’m going to have fun regardless because of who I’m going with, we always have a good time.

Leisure time

It is a really pretty day outside. I’m so glad to be back at school where I go and leave whenever. That’s the main problem my mama has with me when I go home on the weekends or breaks. I woke up to a phone call from my cousin Rae. He told me that my mama called him and they were talking for a while. He said that my mama is worried about me because of what I do on my leisure time. And I can understand from a mother’s point of view. But I told her that if what I’m doing on my leisure time is not affecting my grades, my health or anything else then I’m good. But of course, she my mother so she will not understand right now.

End Of Spring Break

This whole week Spring break has been so hectic. I feel like I got a lot accomplished, but I wish I would had more “ME” time. I have been stressed out quite a lot lately and I really did need that break but it was just like I was in school. I’m ready to go back so I can finish this last semester off good. It’s Friday and tonight I’m thinking about just going to this strip club called Papermoon with my best friend David. The strip club is always fun late night if you go with the right people.

Hanna

Last night I watched the best movie I have seen in a very long time. The movie was called “Hanna”; it was about a sixteen year old girl who was born in a fertility clinic where they injected the embryos with medicine to make the children smarter, stronger, and faster and have some of the abilities of a ninja. Her father raised her to be the perfect assassin and to fight for the rest of her life if need be. I liked Hanna mostly because she was young but was taking on the responsibilities of somebody well beyond her age.

Abortion & Teenage Pregnancy

My friend and I were having a conversation earlier on the phone about teenage pregnancy and abortions. Starting off as a freshman at my former high school, there were about four or five girls at the whole high school that were pregnant. The end of my senior year, there were over twenty-five females that were pregnant. My friend and I noticed that more females are choosing to become mothers rather than choosing to abort the baby, which at a time was more popular than keeping the baby. I think the percentage of teenage pregnancy has increased so much over the years and will continue to do the same.

Being Productive

I have promised myself to make my spring break extremely productive. I am doing all my school work and even finishing up all of the work in some of my classes. So when I get back it will basically be like I’m already finished with the class, all I have to do now is pass the final exam. Today I have been working a lot on my C.N.A test that I will be taking soon. I am going to try to finish up everything with that this week too, so when I come back to Durham on Sunday I can register to take it.

First Day of Spring break

Right now I am feeling a little salty. It’s the first day of spring break and instead of me blogging from sitting on the balcony, watching the ocean and listening to waves, I’m at home sitting on the couch. This spring break I was supposed to be going to Myrtle Beach in South Carolina with my friend Arielle. We went to senior beach week together too and had the most fun. We still had plans to go up until about two weeks ago. She runs track and they have a tournament this week at UNC Wilmington. Since I’m spending my spring break doing work and having little to no fun, we plan on scheduling another trip this summer.

Reminiscing

I feel so overwhelmed with life at this point. This semester is gradually coming to an end, and it feels like a lot of my teachers are just throwing work my way. I’m smart and confident enough to get through these next two months, so I will eventually be okay. But it’s still hard to for me to believe that I have been in college for almost a year already. Just around this time last year I was picking out prom dresses, planning my graduation cookout, paying for senior beach week and still not really worrying about things. High school was fun, but it doesn’t even compare to college life.

KONY 2012

I watched the Kony 2012 video for the first time last week and I was astonished at what my eyes were watching. Kony takes little boys from their families, trains them to be violent and makes them kills other people even their own parents sometimes. He takes the little young African girls and sells them as sex slaves. He is responsible for corrupting the minds of over 30,000 boys. If this was to happen one day in America, Joseph Kony would quickly be put on trial and the death penalty would possibly be into effect. My heart really does go out for all the children who had to endure this punishment, which makes me grateful.

Blogging

Ok, so I think this whole “blogging thing” is okay. Writing a hundred words is not that hard to do. I just don’t like that we have to get on here everyday for this. I would rather just write in a notebook all week and then at the end of the week, write it up in a blog. I think that would make things easier for a lot of students because we don’t have to physically get on our computers when we are away from school. And with some of Central network connections, having access to internet is sometimes limited.

It’s Wednesday and I can say overall this week is going good. It started off stressful though because I had two tests, one in Sociology and one in Arts and Humanities. And I had a quiz in Psychology. I studied hard and it all paid off when I received an A on all my tests and my quiz. If my grades are good them I’m happy. Spring break is on about a week and a half and it looks like I’m going back home. I would really rather be going to the beach like I planned to do. But instead, I can study the whole week and be ready to come back and take my C.N.A test which will put me ahead.

This weekend I’m suppose to be going to Raleigh to my sister’s house to spend time with her and my dad. I’m interested to see how it’s going to go. I have not seen or heard from my daddy in a long time before he called me last week. No hard feeling though, we all normally always have a good time together. When I get back to my room today, I’m going to look up apartments and prices. I want to be living off campus by my sophomore year. I’m going to also make a trip to the union to get some pizza.

This past week has been so hectic. I have been so busy and stressed out. Last night Duke won to Carolina 85-84, in the last seconds of the game. That was definitely a good game. I just got off the phone with my sister Meyosha, we always have good conversations. We were talking about planning a trip to Miami this summer with one or two of our friends and of course of love lives. Then I told her about what happened to me today. Two females called themselves confronting me over some childish shit. My new favorite song is “Square Out Your Circle” by Rocko.
