Agree with TheSweetnessD...I think it's okay to start talks related to your blog posts...this should be a place to debate, to know other users, get advice..etc...but starting a talk to just drop a link? Didn't work with me, at least.
Really great read. All decently common sense, but I'm amazed at how many websites break many of these rules. Its very hard to stay on any site that breaks even one of them.

Just make it short, Sir. Just don't think about how you will get traffic but think how you will get readers.
Short is not sufficient if you know what I mean and besides, this is not where people posting their whole article... advertising is a way to get readers... simple as that
Happened you heard what so called 'teaser'? Google it if you need more explanations. What I see is you just dropping a blog post, am I right?
I thought it was a good read and stated many valid points. I can't stand a blog that is loaded with ads or asks you to register in just to read something.
Personally, I am also getting tired of being inundated with SEO/How to make money blogging/Increase web traffic blogs that keep asking me to follow and vote for them. To me, there are just too many of them that are all covering the same topics, saying the same thing, and are honesty kind of boring. I do like a few that I follow and have helped me out as I am a newbie blogger but I have no need for 100 blogs that cover the same subject.
I also clicked to the blog and noticed I had to register in order to read. So that is my top reason for leaving a blog in 5 seconds.
I think its called content locking. You can't access without registering or pressing the like button
I do share how to make profits online, to tell them that blogging is not a get rich quick career and to tell them the truth so they wont be blinded with all the hype about money making online...
but I dont share how to attract readers... its plain common sense, you just need to make it interesting to attract readers :-)
There is a saying that goes something like this, a person will not change what is wrong if they don't know they are wrong. So for me, in order for me to change, then I need to know where my problem lies and it is helpful having examples. I am new at blogging and for me, it was all about open conversations about anything anyone wanted to talk about. Dusten, if you have read my blog, could you show me what I am doing wrong ? It would be greatly appreciated. Ted
I completely agree with you, popups are a pain and I alsway close site with popups. I agree with other things also, One more thing I like to add is some bloggers activate comments with word verification, I think no one has patience now a days to copy the clumsy words and give also give a comments. That is also a big turnoff
I won't read a post if there are Google ads right at the beginning of the post. It comes off tacky and there is another appropriate place for those ads: your side bar. I want to see your content, not banner ads.
