Soooo we all have survived the "end of the world" and moved into 2013 with smooth sailing; yet were still not out the woods. 2012 being the hottest year so far, having strong natural disasters and what not, what do you think needs to be changed? I've wrote about this before stating that it starts with us. The business I'm stating up is geared at this exact problem. I think it's time to switch products.... L.A. GREEN =)
Ah, I see, so that is what the Green means. I think it starts with us as well. There are so many people who say, "well, what does it matter if I don't do this?" This being recycling or any of the number of ways we could be nicer to our environment. It's kind of like voting you know? Every vote counts. In this case every recycled can counts. If every person on Earth would do just one thing to be more eco-friendly our world would be much better off.
I haven't seen your other statements on this, so sorry if I am being repetitive.
Tasha your not being repetitive. I actually made this statement a while back when nobody was reading my talks. And what you said is true. Many people think that, what can they do as a single person to make things better. Did you know that, they had a study in psychology that says humans naturally mimic each other. We do it without even thinking; its natural for us to do this. I know it sounds a little humbling or it kind of belittles us and at the same time it doesn't. Why am I saying this? All it takes is for one person in a household to make a difference. Naturally, what begins to occur is adoption or in this case becoming a copy cat. Once the copying begins, it begins to spill out. People who come to your house may notice a different product, different smell. If the product is liked or dis-liked, it's being talked about; therefore, you begin to copy a person. For example, look at Bloggers. If someone post something, naturally the first person to respond has an original thought; from that point on, everyone just agrees with the first post going against the author of the post. After a few reply's you'll notice someone else will respond with something different . My point: We copy each other as humans. If everyone begins to go green, what happens..."hey I wanna go green" but if everyone is indifferent, then nothing will change.
Hate to be the downer here (I do try to be as green as possible, btw), but none of this stuff is going to make much difference without population control. Three billion people on the planet when I was a kid 50 years ago, now there are 9 billion, and for some reason countries were trying to lay claim to having the baby that put us over the top. Seriously, what are you going to do in the U.S., one of the worst polluters per capita, when you've got over 2 billion people in China and India just starting to live our wasteful lifestyle, drinking up, digging up, fossil fuels like there's no tomorrow (ironic, eh?)?
@ Casey It can make a difference just a small difference. I think the big issue most people think is, you have to become a tree hugging hippie in order to save the planet and become green. I mean the planet needs pollution to some extent. When a volcano erupts, it releases twice as much pollution as humans do today. So the earth naturally has it ways of doing such similar activity. I live in Los Angeles the worst city when it comes to air quality. As a kid, i developed a slight cough on bad air days when I would run. Over time, I noticed the cough disappeared and for the first time in a decade, I noticed that LA mountains. (I'm joking) but it's true to some degree. I remember as a kid, I rarely saw the mountains because the smog was that bad; most of LA lies about 15 miles (at max)away from the mountains; so out of seven days there would be at lest three days I see the mountains; today the number is up to five days and my cough is gone; so change can happen but not overnight. As for the new people in the world, they need to be educated on what's harmful to the planet and what is not harmful.
