Its not really important for a small or personal blog but if you are professional blogger and you wanna going to show advertisements on your blog then advertisers are really interested in alexa ranking.
There is no such tricks to increase alexa you can only do some things like promoting your blog and writing good articles with unique content which readers are interested in reading.
The thing is that more the readers/visitors higher alexa ranking.

A strong Alexa rating does help me to determine the strength of someone's advice as I read various blogs. You can improve your rating by registering your blog for free. It's a place to start.

Thank you Paula. I just wasn't sure if a lower ranking would be better. Mine is still high regardless. I didn't know the effect it would have in my site.
