Alexa basically ranks websites based certain factors like. Number of unique visitors, backlinks stuff like that. I doesn't affect your blog directly in terms of getting traffic. However, this is one of those base that many people or organizations uses to measure the populartiy of any individual site, specially "Advertisers" would definitely look for this Ranking.
