English has been and always will be the global language. This is the reason why most countries are teaching and adapting English as their first or second language. Nowadays, specially this generation it will be tough if you can't speak good english. It's your ticket to your job especially if you're bi-lingual. As a response to Nitsu...you will be surprise that most customer service people in india that I talked to seems to be educated and professional. They can articulate themselves and speaks proper english . I just commented an agent today for a well job done. So, don't feel sorry for them for I think they're better. For others they just need to learn.

I'd say yes, being an international language. We ought to learn the language to be able to communicate to anyone globally.

english will remain the all-time global language.if u r not acquainted to it, then u r the loser. its as simple as that.so just learn eng to compete in this ruthless competitive world.or else ur talent will be at stake.no talent can get appreciation unless it reaches the global audience. and u know the way for that.so learn eng and respect eng.

When some people meet, specially meet online, should talk some language that others can understand. English spread well, people usage that a bit more. There are lot's of site/blog/community based on different language, if you tell something here I could not understand, what's the value?

Btw global language is the humanity!

yes u r right, i feel myself handicap because I'm unable to express myself in English. I can write little more but unable to speak frequently. I am a successful businessman & also a thinker of grass root level. If i meet with anyone then immediately i can read his brain but weak English is my weakness.I feel inferiority complex.

Then what do you say on this??? Are you doing something to work on this challenge???

we are indians and it's vast country and different culture , society ,religion and belongs to different reigion so langauge is a barrier but not for professionals if u r well versed in englsih then no problem.

English is universal. So is French. But is it a handicap? I think that depends on whether or not you as the individual sees it that way and/or is not capable of maneuvering around the world without it. Many of us need it for traveling on business. But if you want to know it just to know it...that is ok too. I don't know. I have always felt like if I go to another country then I should learn that language because they take the time out to learn ours. I know that the French appreciate it and so do the Italians. On my travels it is the general consensus that Americans are vain or rude for not even trying to speak another language.

What would you say?
