Are you a Commenter or a Silent Visitor ?

Ibn Hanif on Comments, Visitors, Interaction, Readers, Traffic Source, Google

Almost all of my blog visitors come from search engines. I have observed that most of them are silent visitors because they don't leave comments but I still love them the most.

I personally love to share my thoughts to appreciate and encourage the bloggers who share useful info and photos etc.

Though mostly I don't reply to the comments left at my blog but I love to comment on blogs where the blog owner replies to the comments of the readers.

Are you a Commenter or a Silent Visitor ?
And what about your blog visitors do they share thoughts?

the same with me. i have tons of silent visitors aka lurkers lol

as for me, if the site/blog is really good, then i'll leave a comment. but to be honest, theres more times that i dont comment.. :)

Ibn Hanif ∙ 29 Sep, 11

Thanks so much !

At least you are the first one to share thoughts in this discussion.

Do you like your silent visitors ?

Rashika ∙ 29 Sep, 11

honestly i am a silent visitor..... but i do comment on the posts i love..

Tracey ∙ 29 Sep, 11

I only comment if I have something meaningful to say regarding someone's post. I really appreciate when people do the same on mine. Commenting just for the sake of commenting is kind of pointless!!

Ibn Hanif ∙ 29 Sep, 11

"Commenting just for the sake of commenting is kind of pointless!!"

True!

Spanishforkiddos ∙ 29 Sep, 11

I love to engage with my readers as much as I can so of course I always leave meaningful comments on their blogs and blogs I recently discovered. I always appreciate if any silent readers would like to leave a feedback on my blog.

Commenter and Visitor

Ibn Hanif ∙ 29 Sep, 11

And sometimes my visitors leave silently because there arrival at my blog was a misunderstanding between Google web crawlers and the visitor.

Rizwan Memon ∙ 19 Dec, 11

i believe it can be addressed by using proper meta tags and meta description, perhaps.

I'll add at-least meta-description to my blog when I get some time.

Rizwan Memon ∙ 19 Dec, 11

Commentator mostly, to let bloggers know that "Heyy!! I'm with you!" :D

Even a small comment is worth so much motivation.

I like my silent visitors as well. It gives me courage that at least someone has read the content, that's enough for me. Of course a comment on or using social buttons at the end of each blog post is appreciated :) *added motivation*

PuruS ∙ 19 Dec, 11

I used to be a silent visitor but now I comment :) and when am too lazy to comment, I just hit the like / share button for the posts i like

Arnab ∙ 19 Dec, 11

I am commentator for the blogs I like, for the one's I don't I am a silent visitor.I have seldom given negative comments to any blog, I somehow can't do that!

My Stuff ∙ 19 Dec, 11

I try and leave comments for any blog post I read.

Cloe Bowie ∙ 19 Dec, 11

@Tracy & @Eyewitness, "Commenting just for the sake of commenting is kind of pointless!!" Even tho' I do understand what you mean, I'd have to disagree with that statement; comments make the blog's owner happy, you know, and anything that makes someone happy is far from pointless. :)

Cloe Bowie ∙ 19 Dec, 11

Oh, and -- to answer the question -- I'm more of a silent commenter; I can never think up anything good to say. ): I disabled comments on my blog; I got tired of yearning for comments and hardly ever getting any. Yes, like me, about %95 of my visitors were silent. Now that no one can comment, comments are no longer on my mind -- which causes me to not worry about them whatsoever. :)

Vimal Dwivedi ∙ 19 Dec, 11

I used to comment on the post I like most on a blog, and if it is very useful content then I tried to bookmark and also follow that blog , never leaved silently even in some blogs I used critics but was for the better of the blog.

Anatheimp ∙ 19 Dec, 11

Both. I comment when I feel that comment is necessary.

Nayan Banik ∙ 19 Dec, 11

i love to read and write, but it must be mutual!

If you make comments on my blog, then i also do the same!

Isn't it cool?

Kerker ∙ 21 Dec, 11

I think im a bit of both, I tend to comment on blogs that relate to me more compared to random blogs i like reading.

dennis hodgson ∙ 21 Dec, 11

I comment only when I feel I have something worthwhile to say (which is quite often, as it happens). If you comment on my blog, I will reply if I think it's appropriate, such as if you ask a question or challenge my ideas (I may be wrong!).

Chouashley ∙ 30 Dec, 11

It depends on the blog I think!

There are many where I am a silent visitor.

If the author is able to initiate discussion in their blog postings then I do find myself making comments.

I do appreciate when I see that blog owners are responding to the comments (something I like to do myself) because I feel that shows a bit of appreciation and interest on who is visiting the blog.

Mekey Salaria ∙ 30 Dec, 11

I first look at the content.. if it helps me out.. then a comment is deserved by it.. else i quit!!

AnyOtherWay ∙ 30 Dec, 11

I'm a commented :)! I think that it's nice, especially when you read a post where the writer is feeling a bit sad to let them know that everything will be okay and to not despair!

And I know exactly what you mean about the silent visitors. Blogger stats tell me that I've had 8000+ visitors, but only like 200+ comments, which must mean the majority of my readers are invisible. But I don't particularly mind, it's just great to know that people read what you write.

FitnessGuy ∙ 30 Dec, 11

It really depends for me. I comment if a site is worthy of criticism or praise.

Sabrina ∙ 18 Jan, 12

I comment the most of times.
My visitors is very silence. Hope one day my visitors would write more comments. That is just more fun :-)

Ibn Hanif ∙ 18 Jan, 12

Sabrina ∙ 19 Jan, 12

Sabrina ∙ 19 Jan, 12

Ibn Hanif ∙ 19 Jan, 12

Ibn Hanif ∙ 18 Jan, 12

Thanks all !

It was nice to know different views on the topic.

Harvest Fields ∙ 18 Jan, 12

I try to leave a comment. Especially if the content really grabbed my attention. So maybe I am a little bit of both.

Looney Lizard ∙ 19 Jan, 12

It depends on the article really, always happy to comment

Purple Chronicle ∙ 19 Jan, 12

Always comment... if there is nothing to comment about the post... I at least leave a note saying I was there. We all need that don't we?

Ibn Hanif ∙ 19 Jan, 12

Loved your commenting policy.

Best Wishes

A NoName ∙ 19 Jan, 12

Hiya,

I love to comment on people's blogs, it's the best way to link back to your own but I also like to give my opinions etc.

As for my own blog, I have a few followers that comment all the time, some visitors comment too. I love comments from people and I always reply, especially when I need advice for something, it's nice to know there are people out there willing to help or at least provide some thoughts.

JenMH ∙ 19 Jan, 12

I'm a commenter! I find my visitors to my blog are silent visitors though!

Ibn Hanif ∙ 19 Jan, 12

Possibly, most of them come from google?

Lulu Fernandez ∙ 19 Jan, 12

I try to comment always, but sometimes I cannot for my job...

Amit Herlekar ∙ 46 weeks ago

visitor, but if i like the content, i comment as well

Joseph Ezie Efoghor ∙ 46 weeks ago

I love commenting on blogs to encourage the blog owner and at the same time improve my backlink.
sometime people don't comment because we do not create the atmosphere for interaction. We must learn to set the pace for people to start talking. Ask them questions, make your own opinion and ask them for their own opinion and they will start talking.
When I changed my pattern on my blog at http://www.bizsuccessguide.com I noticed in the past few weeks that things have relatively changed. There is hardly any day now that I don't have someone commenting on my post.

Nyasha ∙ 46 weeks ago

I'm a commentor but I bet I have loads of silent visitors and it pisses me off :/

WordylilChacha ∙ 45 weeks ago

though sometime i just read blog post, i'm likely to leave comments especually if i really like the topic and the blogger.

The Budget Wanderers ∙ 45 weeks ago

We do comment on things we find interesting. And sometimes we do tweet them as well!

Bali Land And Villa ∙ 45 weeks ago

It depends

My Travel Affairs ∙ 45 weeks ago

I guess I have more silent visitors but would love to have more comments, not for a sake of having them but knowing what people think about my post, Im doing things ok or they are bad and I should change or improve.

I always comment back with hope to establish some kind of conversation.

I always comment on blogs I visit. And I tweet about it as well :)

So feel free to comment on my blog http;//www.mytravelaffairs.com
