I think it depends on the blog's niche....you cant possibly be talking about issues affecting the society in a Tech blog like netmediablog.com .

I think that's entirely up to the individual. What you write about and where, is a personal thing.

Only if you feel the drive and passion to. Sometimes when people comment on something because they feel obligated they don't do the subject justice.

I don't think it should be considered an obligation. As Jamie mentioned, it's about your passion. I posted on my blog as well as on my wall here about a project that's important to me.

Although my blog is only a little over a month old and I started it as a creative project for fun, it will also serve to draw attention to causes I want to support to help others.

I agree with Jamie, and as usual, RPD. Its all about the drive and the passion to do something such as that. I know, deep down, I kind of feel that urge to help out, but definitely not an obligation, because that kind of thing can land you in some trouble if not done right.
