As a blogger, what is it that you wish everyone would understand about you?

Patricia on Message, Blogging, Understanding

As a blogger, what is it that you wish everyone would understand about you? What is it that you feel is a wrong message about you that readers and others may get from your blog? Or what is it about you that you want them to know and understand about you that they may NOT get from your blog?

For me... Its important that others know that while my faith is very real for me that I'm not the type of person who tries to push it on others.

The most obvious thing that you will learn about me from reading my blog is that I live in Hong Kong, I'm fascinated by Chinese culture and I fall off my bike every December.

But what will I not learn about you from your blog that you want others to know?

If it isn't on my blog Patricia, then it's something I prefer to remain private, but you can get a good idea of my tastes in music and my interest in birds, that I'm a keen cyclist, that I learned to drive in the Sahara Desert and that I grew up in the Lake District, among other things.

Nice question Patricia. I also have same question like you. My blog content was horrible and make my readers go away, but I can't do anything about it because it is me and I was just sharing it.

I went to your site to ck it out and leave a message but I didn't want to join Disqus so I couldn't. I also didn't find any way on the site for anyone to follow you. This is the message I was trying to leave.

It sounds like to me that you are blogging with the same ideas in mind as myself. I'm blogging to share my heart and my faith with others both the "saved" and the "unsaved." At one point in time I was knotted all up about how many were coming to my site on a daily basis. Finally God got my attention and then I wrote "So You're Thinking About Blogging?" I came to realize that success for me, because of the reason I blog, wasn't about numbers... it was about impact on the life of another person. You may never know the impact of what you are doing so you have to rely on the fact that if you are doing what you feel God would have you do.... then you ARE a success. It's your job to obey... it's his job to do the rest.

"As a blogger, what is it that you wish everyone would understand about you?"

Push the like or G+ button! some people I've know for years would it hurt them to push the button? don't tell me you like my blog to my face just push the bloody button already it take a second if you took the time to read the thing and look at the pictures and you like it press the like button!!!

"What is it that you feel is a wrong message about you that readers and others may get from your blog? "

They think I'm deep and spiritual while actually I just want them to push the button.

"Or what is it about you that you want them to know and understand about you that they may NOT get from your blog?"

I know how that feels. About maybe 1/10th of my friends even acknowledge what I do. Forget pushing a button.... any button, I can't get them to my website or FB page to begin with. But I don't let them bother me anymore. I do what I do for me and not for them.

Google and Facebook should sort it out so that when you press the like button you get candy, every computer should have a built in dispenser and a guy in a boiler suit should be notified when the supply of candy runs out so he can drive out and refill the dispenser. Problem solved! Some times I'm so smart I amaze even myself :D

I really like this question. I also afraid of misunderstanding between me and readers just because of my horrible grammar.

Patricia ∙ 18 weeks ago

Horrible grammar can always be fixed.... always. It takes time, patience and a willingness to learn. But a gramatical program wouldn't hurt either. There may be something on the web that would be helpful to you.

I hope to show readers the whole picture involving addiction. Most people only see the ugly side. Once you are labeled, it's done. That's all you will ever be. I want people to see the face of recovery. The good, the bad, and the ugly. I am sharing my story currently and after that I am going to do a post that states all the addictive patterns I was showing long before the first drug was ever tried. I also want to give people hope. I want to inspire. I don't know how much of this I am actually accomplishing.

Patricia ∙ 18 weeks ago

Natasha, what you are doing is an amazing thing. There are many who once they start the recovery process are so ashamed of where they've been that they can't be transparent about their life. It is refreshing that you are willing. I believe that you will make a difference in someones life. If nothing else you may help change someones views on the idea that once someone becomes an addict they will never be able to be anything else.
