Just wondered what the benefit of having your own domain are? I don't really have that many followers yet so I'm not sure theres much point in getting my own domain just yet especially as I'm not sure of the benefits! Could someone shed some light please?
If you plan on using Google AdSense I'd say having your own domain is a must. I applied over 10 times on a .blogspot blog that's over 3 months old with 50 posts and never got approved. I applied for this blog with a .com domain even though it was only up for a week with 15 posts it got approved..

First of all and most important...it looks professionally. I think no matter what you do and write about it you should be serious about it.
The benefits of having your own domain is your blog will have a somehow, professional appeal. I guess it has nothing to do with being approved in Google Adsense. I got Adsense account without having my own domain, it's all bout the content and the structure of your blog.
1.) Having a blog hosted makes one have to abide by the service policies of the account. Suspension or loss of data is possible. Also, I could never sell my blog to make a profit. 2.) Instant credibility. Although there are some good blogs on .blogsites, many of them are low quality displays of narcissism. 3.) The flexibility of being able to control the software/setup would be nice. I've made it a goal that once I've written 100 blog posts, I'm getting my own domain.
