blog layout help

Lorie on Help, Blog, Layout, Design, Template, Wordpress

hi there! I am desperately looking for some help/advice on my blog template/layout. I'm on wordpress and I haven't actually found a template I like from their [free!] selection yet. I really liked twenty eleven but I felt the font was too big. at the moment my blog is dull and grey looking and the header image looks like an ms paint job even though I'm on a mac and can use photoshop (just don't have it any more); I want it quite minimalist but with a image header instead of writing. I want a free design because I don't want to pay for something I might not like in the future, and although I know html and css I don't want to pay to use the feature either. can anyone suggest any nice layouts, or what I can do to make a better header on my current design?

my blog is: wherethelightis.org

maybe you can find on google with keyword free wordprees template, I think you'll find a lot of free css or html to your blog.
your blog is nice but probably too long you can make it a little short with a "read more" I do not know its name :)
Your blog is better than my blog : (

tha name of my blog is where the light is, it's in the corner of the header:)
yeah I did a read more when I started, but I'm on wordpress.com not .org so I had to install a "similar posts" app rather than a widget, .com is so annoying!
I can't alter the html/css of themes without paying for it, but thanks for your advice!
being "Better than" is a matter of opinion, but thank you anyway :)

I think the you possessed a blog at wordpress.org I apologize for that.
If you do not want membaya to code css / html is easy, you learn yourself syntax css / html I think you certainly can :)

Hi Lorie,

I am using Twenty Ten and designed it to come to its current incarnation using different widgets and plug ins.

Did you try looking through the wordpress free templates by keywords? Sometimes you can select templates based on your likes.

First off, I would get away from free themes. Most times those templates are limited and when problems happen, there is no support. You can find tons of templates that will give your photos life and create a beautiful set up for your content. Check out http://www.themeforest.net. They have thousands of templates and the functionality will be much more user friendly to potential visitors.
