Blogging is Not About Making Money

Roshan Jerad Perera on Blogging, Money

Never blog for money.
It will lead you nowhere. And you'll probably end up with a crappy blog with lots of advertisements and cheap articles.

At some point we all start to earn few bucks through Blogging. But don't rush into it. Start with expressing yourself and write awesome articles. Fill your blog with great content. Do some SEO. Give it some time for your blog to get better ranking on Google and promote your awesome articles on social networks.

It's all about letting out the inner side of you through your writing and never giving up!

I started blogging more than three years ago with the intention of writing articles that others would enjoy reading and posting photographs that others would like to look at. I never thought of making money. This has not changed. I will never run ads on my blog.

I can see that you have a wonderful blog. And It's good to run an ad-free blog. There are a lot of those blogs out there.
But it's also OK to earn some extra cash while blogging as a hobby.

The thing that I dislike about giveaways is that a lot of people start to follow your blog because they want something and then when the giveaway ends they stop following you.

I reather have a few followers that love to read my blog because they like it, instead of people who only follow because they want something.

Same goes for people who say "FOLLOW ME, I FOLLOW BACK!" Why do you want a 100 followers when you get 10 pageviews a day.
I reather have 40 followers and 40 pageviews a day.

Also yes I agrea, your main point should not be money. But I do have to say it makes buying things for your blog better.

You are right about that Denna. Although its not just about increasing followers. It's about promoting your brand. It's a way of telling people that your brand exists on the world wide web. Its even better than advertising coz people connects with you there.

Winner could unfollow the blog and get away with the prize but others will always stay tuned for upcoming giveaways and stories.

Having a lot of followers doesn't promise to bring you a lot of visitors but it will definitely help with the reputation. For example your blog will look better when you have a FB page with 1000 followers than a blog with 100 followers.
