So many speculations are coming out about the supposed end of the world in 2012,some hindsights are quite scary,and some assumptions are downright ridiculous. But what if the momentous event really comes true?

i am not sure what mayan people predicted and what speculations are being made now,and how much we doing justice to the fact that ancient civilizations were extremely advanced in technology than we think they were,i do belive in reasons of total catastrophe but do not know why i should blive it would occur in 2012

I don't think that the end of the world will be in 2012 for the simple reason there are certain things that are predicted in the bible that have to happen and they have not happen as of 12-1-2009 but they could happen in the next 3 years but I for one believe what the bible says and we have not entered that time yet.

Look, the guy with the chisel probably was overworked, underpaid, and decided to take a brake before the thing was finished. He took out his lunch, had his back to the jungle, and then was eaten by a large animal or cannibal. The end. But if this thing is for real, wouldn't it be cool to travel to some mayan temple- or pyramid, get out your lawn chair, crack open a bottle of Corona, and have a front row view? That way you could kiss your ass goodbye in style.

hello ..universe is expanding,,dark energy is taking over dark matter,soon our stars and galaxies and every single thing will have gone so apart that we wont be able to see any star,,including sun,,univers will go cold,and we will all die in refrigerator (million years to be precisely wrong) and then gravity will fail in coming future and all bonds in molecules ,compounded structures will break and everything will shatter into fundamental particles ,,,should be a movie on it i guess...lets drink now

No. the the year 2012 is simply means reborn of the new decade not necessarily the end of planet earth. Changes might occur there could be war conflicts disease everywhere and other causalities. A huge trust of God is needed.

Yes,I also believe there will be a new heaven and a new earth.What Nostradamus predicted that the planet earth would totally collapse someday seems a paranoia and a delusion.But then again,even the BIBLE doesn't exactly tell when the end of the world will be,it just states that it will come like a "thief in the night." No one knows for sure,100%.

We cannot base our lives on "what ifs". Better we live our lives to the fullest, be a lover of people and try to make a difference in this world which seems bent on destruction. That latter fact may impact on the end of the world but setting a date for it is ludicrous.

I think this whole 2012 end of the world thing is a bunch of garbage. This is the same thing they said about the year 2000, and look what happened--absolutely nothing. Some poor sap has nothing better to do with his time except scare people.

ok nibiru a planet is coming ,,,it will pass from some where near our planet ,,its gravitational pull will have effects on the gravity of earth causing tsunami earthquakes volcanos etc etc,,,it will disturb the functioning of satellites also ,,,

Even if 31.12.2012 is to be the last day, can you, me or we do anything. SO! WHY WORRY. Start living life to the fullest today, and 01.01.2013 and beyond will be better, for the good efforts done before 31.12.2012.

The world in my opinion will not end in 2012. But I think progressively over time the world will deteriorate itself to the point of extinction because the human race is slowly destroying the earth as we speak. The biggest problem was and still is, that man kind did not start early enough to begin saving the earth, instead, we took more from the earth than was needed and now that we don't have that enormous surplus of whatever it is that we took from the earth, now we are suffering and are asking why. So, no, the earth isn't going to end in 2012, but it will sooner than man kind wants it to.

i can not say that it can not end as well ,for i know nothing about how earth can end and in how many ways and which of these ways are feasibly possible in upcoming times..

we have changed the damn face of world ,it is not what it used to look earlier ,like deforestation as an example,,we like debarring the planet from its natural things ,its bound to have effects

But it that an unnatural thing? There is more forest today than there has been in the past. The only areas where deforestation is still prevalent are impoverished countries, like Haiti. The people chop everything down to build houses, make coal, etc and they don't think about replanting. Is this really bad for the planet, or is it bad for us? I think the planet is still fine.

and its a fact that release of carbon content in air ,and other elements by burning fuel that was earlier under the earths crust is damaging the balance of air composition..hence effects ,if it was a natural change ,then may be earth could have adapted ,but not to man made changes.more carbon content ,lesser trees ,leads to more warming ...

I'm sorry, but you are 100% wrong on this one. Reforestation rates are incredible. It has been projected that by 2050 we will grow forests the size of India. Asia gained 2.5 million acres of forest from 2000 to 2005. Even if we manage (which we are not) to change the atmospheric gas content, it still would not damage the planet. I think people are confusing life on this planet with the planet itself. Even if we kill every living thing on this planet, the planet will still be here. If we turn Earth into Mars, it will still circle the sun. The idea that humans are causing global warming is an example of human arrogance.

a good striking percentage of forest is gone and ya reforestation will help surely .but by 2050 ,,we still have 40 years left and when we talk about end of world it means end of 'our' life or our ways of life .or the type of world we live in or we see...

For me to debate this properly, I will need a larger entry space to provide references proving the things I am saying. You're not even sure about ozone depletion. Ozone depletion is caused by CFCs, not carbon monoxide. Humanity studied ozone depletion and has since enacted global laws phasing out CFC products. We've almost completely stopped ozone depletion. Again, this still doesn't affect the planet. It affects life on the planet. Now you say that you mean the end of the world as we know it. The planet and civilization are constantly changing. The world as we know it will continue to change. Before I get too carried away, I've decided to make a blog entry since I can write a longer response that way. Feel free to respond to it once I post it.

CFC's split into chlorine atoms, not carbon monoxide. The majority of the world's carbon monoxide emissions come from plants. If CO was depleting the ozone layer, it would have been gone already. UV radiation causes chlorine to break apart from CFCs.

Then, since there's still excess oxygen atoms in the air:
ClO + O = Cl + O2
Then you have a free chlorine again to go and destroy another ozone molecule. This is why CFCs have either been phased out or replaced with HCFCs.

Read your own response from earlier. You claimed it's carbon monoxide's interaction with ozone that's depleting the Earth's ozone layer. I corrected you. The problem is chlorine atoms being introduced by CFCs. Again, I'm going to write up a blog post for you since you're understanding of this subject seems to be quite limited. In the age of the internet, you can search out all this information yourself.

I already said that I know you were talking about carbon monoxide. I'm trying to tell you that carbon monoxide emissions are not responsible for ozone depletion. You're also still confusing my original argument. I never said humanity's actions haven't had a negative impact on the environment. I'm saying that we are not destroying this planet. For ever negative impact we've had, we create more positive ones. As for the rest of your questions, I'll address them in my upcoming blog post. It's currently in progress. there is a place in india called bhopal ,it had some fine industries ,
some decades ago a disaster occurred ,GAS LEAKAGE
its famous as BHOPAL GAS TRAGEDY
over 500,000 people were affected ,and unofficial death count went to 30 000 ,and till date it shows effects on people ,like bad diseases that i cant even spell proper
thing is disasters dont knock on your door before coming ...we should try to live as much as possible rest is game of words

Defenitely not. It's all just baseless hype and nothing else. Humanity gets excited by the smallest of things and hence this rumour has taken the form of a massive source of worry. Nothing, absolutely nothing, can possibly predict the future.
