Do you have an "About" or "About Me" page on your blog?

Ibn Hanif on About Page, Blog Intro

If you have an "About" or "About Me" page on your blog what does that say?

I have two blogs on bloggers.com. One of them has the title: "The Voice of Nature" and the about page introduces the blog with following words:

"An amateur nature photographer's blog who since his early teens, spent several years of his life living in between belief and doubt trying to seek answers to the questions like: Do we really have a Creator? What is the purpose of our life? And found the answers by comparing different belief systems with nature."

How have you introduced yours?

Let's visit the blog which has an about page of our interest.

I have about page, and basically it describes blog and its subject.

NewsMeBack, I just checked your blog's about page. Nice description of both blog and the citizen journalism.

Yes, It's about me and how my blog (Beneath The Tree) got its name.. considering that it is a blog about programming

Parmitaborah ∙ 14 Sep, 11

it's very important to have an "about" section to describe what kind of information your blog carries. the same information should alos be part of the byline/meta tag of your blog for search engine optimization

Ibn Hanif ∙ 14 Sep, 11

It means you know how to handle the search engines bots.

My little experience tells that they look for queries in URL and title first.

Thanks for sharing .

This is a really good question!

My business blog has a title 'Aleta's Arty Facts', a subtitle and a description all right on the home page:
'Antiques in Australia: The Not-for-Snobs-Only Art, Antiques and Collectables Blog
Jump on in to Aleta's blog about the antiques world in New South Wales, Australia, and the wider world.
Find out the facts, the goss and the 'how-to'. And do let me hear from you!

then it has a little 'about me' blurb in the side bar, and also has links to my Google Plus and Bloggers profile.

Now you're making me wonder if I should have a separate, static 'about me' page. Is it necessary, given my layout? Is it nonetheless desireable?'

Hmmmm.... what do you think?

Ibn Hanif ∙ 14 Sep, 11

Before landing on your blog I wish to appreciate the title and and the description of your blog.

And I learned from your "Bio" Bloggers that you live in a wonderful place. Hope you enjoy the nature around you.

thanks for sharing.

I get it. Here's mine. I kept it short and sweet

For anyone who doesn’t know me, my name is Dan Fogarty (thus “Fogs”), and I watch way too many movies.

I’m constantly talking about movies to people who are shaking their heads saying things like no, I havent seen that, or whats that one about, or oh yeah, was that any good? Being single with no kids, I realize that I have a lot more time on my hands than most people. But I also have a really deep love for the magic of the medium. So I try to watch ‘em all, if I can.

I also like to hear myself talk, and I finally figured out that a facebook page really isnt the proper place to post movie reviews. So here we go, a spot for me to write about movies. Lets see if it winds up any good.

The 'About' page always offer the readers a bit more information.
It could be personal for blog. Or could be terms and condition for business site.
Otherwise, i like to have 'about' page in my site.
Above all, in my opinion, if the about page is the landing page, it will be the first thing that the readers read and will determine whether they stay or leave.

Ibn Hanif ∙ 14 Sep, 11

AndreG,
The following is true in my case as well:
"if the about page is the landing page, it will be the first thing that the readers read and will determine whether they stay or leave."

Thanks
