Do you read a lot? What are you with now? :D

Andregs on Literature, Reading, Books

They say the more you read the better you write...do you like reading? What are your favorites? I'm trying to get myself to read more, as I did in the past.

I am now in the fantasy-book mode, trying to re-read the Lord of the Rings, and also Game of Thrones, even though my favorites belong to northamerican novel from the first part of the 20th Century (Grapes of Wrath, the Neon Bible...)

What about you??

I should really go back to reading...I remember I used to read a book with my best friend every Sat till she left the country and settled to someplace else for good, I miss her. :(
I think the last book I even read happened to be with her...it was called the book of Tomorrow....damn it was weird but heck a lot of fun....left me super hungry because one paragraph of every chapter would be about food because a certain character in the story just loved cooking so much, damn that cook seducing her way through..err.... food words!lol

I will check that book, Nikki! And Caelum seems like it's worth a deeper browsing of the page, will do!

Have you ever heard of the Discworld books by Terry Pratchett? - Knowing your sense of humour and like for fantasy they may be for you :-) (I don't know how many there are he's done loads of them, you've got me in the mood to get some that I haven't read now)

Andregs ∙ 30 weeks ago

Yeah I have heard of them...They're on my list of "To Read" but I keep postponing it for stupid reasons...they were announced on TV long time ago and I hated the commercial, they didn't seem exciting at all! More like the kind of adventure book a grandpa would read. Not calling you a grandpa, though! I will have to give them a second chance, they can't be that famous just for nothing!

Yeah I suppose the books are kinda soft i.e. grandpa-ish but they have made me laugh (haven't read his earlier ones) so I enjoyed them to mix it up a bit from the hardcore likes of the millenium triology which are probably my favourites so far :-)

Just finished up World War Z not too long ago. Kind of a realistic view of what would happen if a real zombie apocalypse occurred. Can't wait for the movie to come out.

Andregs ∙ 30 weeks ago

That was the last book I read too!! I really liked it, it was actually optimistic, compared to what's been out so far, most movies just assume total extinction! The trailer doesn't reveal anything except that those zombies run faster than me! I can't wait either!
