When i started blogging, i blog for fun until a friend told me of the important of blogging?
So i was wondering if one can take it as a profession?
So guys what is your take on this please.

I'm sure many people around the world make money out of it and treat it as a serious job!

the answer is YES.
but you have to know what you are doing. first do lots of research, learn SEO, and pick the right topic for a blog too. you don't want to pick a topic that has too many dedicated blogs already.
you probably shouldn't start blogging full time unless you have the money to support yourself for several months. most people who blog full time have several blogs.
i would recommend if you are currently still working to start on your blog now and keep working on it until it is at a good spot before you quit your job.

Definitely :) But you have to treat it as a full time job even before you make any money. I spend hours a day researching, writing, promoting, communicating with followers, supporters, and fellow bloggers in order to increase my ranking, and make valuable connections. I love blogging and its what keeps me going throughout the day. Self motivation is the best advice that I can provide you with :) Stay motivated and excited, and you will succeed :D

well depending on your niche it is possible to make it a profession in a away specially reviewing blogs as companys can use your blog to advertise to help they spread the news of their new product.
Whereas art and crafting blogs which so tutorials and their own progress in stuff you can get commissions etc...
but in the end it all takes time and lots and lots of hard work to be noticed and offers I'd say, so just enjoy blogging the way you do know and you never know a opportunity tends to come when you least know hehe ^^

Many bloggers make it a full time job, especially if you can incorporate having a YouTube account. I know of a couple South-African bloggers who do this as a living, but they're very popular and get sponsored by various big brands and have collaborations with companies. So yes, it's possible.

Yes it is possible for it to be a job. It was more possible a few years ago before the craze of blogging was in but if you can write something decent that can attract people then running a blog can earn a lot from paid reviews and advertisements.
If that fails then you can also do paid blog articles for people which could have the potential to have a job as a freelancer.

But even if you have no blog you can make money from writing articles! I'm getting plenty of emails every day proposing me some articles on my website.
And I know bloggers who make a living out of their blogs, but You need to have a great idea and some superb product :)

People definitely have taken it as a job, and made an absolute killing. Though mainly I've only ever seen food and travel blogs to very well, there are others that do well also. It comes down to just making sure you spend the time and get the quality. The problem is, it could take a VERY long time. The best thing to do, is blog regularly, keep it up, keep the quality up, and if it looks like its heading in the right direction, then jump on it. Most blogger stories I've seen says it takes years to build up the fan base that will click on ads, and buy your books.

A profession, sure, but one where you can give up your day job and devote all your time to it? Not many succeed there, it needs a lot of very hard work and effort.

If you stay at it and don't get discouraged easily and work, work and more work and keep a positive mind then you can get to the point you do well but if you don't have the desire to go at it for the long haul you should try something else.
Anything you do now you are going to have to work hard at otherwise it won't succeed. That is simple business philosophy, Work hard and one day reap the rewards.

I'd say it is definitely possible!
I'm sure there's plenty of people out there who do it full time :D
and I say well done to them, must take a lot of time and effort and energy to do it for full time occupation :)
I agree with a few of these comments about how if you were thinking of doing it yourself to make sure you knew what you were doing and do your research and don't be too hasty with quitting a current job unless you are deadly certain it is going to be a huge success and very consistent :D
Me personally I work part time and blogging is more of a hobby for me, it would be fab to do it full time, so well done to those who have achieved this :D xx
