Hello everyone,
I am just curious if most people out there use their real name to blog or a pen name. I am not using my real name 'cause I felt I could be more open in my writing, more honest, using a pen name ... now that I gave my blog link to a few friends, sometimes I feel like I cannot say everything I want to say, but I am forcing myself to do so anyways.
What about you? Do you use your real name, a pen name or a nickname?
I use my nickname :) No particular reason...I just like being called Nikki lol :D
I use my pen name, I find it easier to right and talk that way as then people can't really judge you until they have known you for a little while 8)

Yes limitless like you say ... now that I gave my best friend the blog's link, sometimes it feels weird if I want to write about her
I use another name besides my real name, I think it really depends on the person if you want to give your name that much exposure

I think it's an individual decision depending on the type of blog you have and what you want to say. If you use your real name and discuss personal issues, you need to think about any possible repercussions etc. As you stated already, you are questioning what you can write about! because your friends know you.
I use a nickname which is catchy, but there are people who know who I am, and I don't mind that. I say what I mean and hold dear to what I say.
I used to use a pen name. Didn't go so well. So I decided to use my real name instead. Feels empowering by definition.
I use either. I guess I should figure out which one I like most & stick to it. :-/
I use a pen name - too many crazies on the internet. I don't mind people knowing my real name but either I give it to you or you can work at finding it out if it means that much to you! Lol
I use a shortened version of my real name. Its what everyone knows me by.
I've struggled with this a lot. In the blogs that I admire most (e.g., Sam Harris'), the author's use their real names, have their photo on the page, etc. Of course, these are often blogs by 'public figures' who have chosen to be 'in the public eye'. I chose to go this route. But it was a difficult decision, because I have another website associated with my work (I'm a professor and neuroscience researcher) - and I didn't really want people who 'Google' me to show up at my blog (which includes both science-related but also more personal posts). The safe choice would be to use a pseudonym, but I chose to 'live out loud'. :)
I use my first name, Dan, on my blog. That way it's personal but doesn't give away too much.
I just realized I don't actually put my name anywhere on my blog. but my face is there. I don't really know why I do this either!
