Getting more comments....

TuscanDreams on Blog Comments, Blogging Tips, Blogging

I seem to be getting the readers and I hope most of them come back, but only a few comments. Has anyone got any advice or tips on how to get more comments and get a discussion going on my blog?

I like your blog. I'm not very good with all those technical things like getting more traffic or likes on Facebook.

But only hard work will gain you comments on your blog. I think you should establish some friends among travel bloggers and comment on their blogs regularly and they will comment back as well :)

And something very IMPORTANT... You need to allow comments via Name/URL....please think many people do not have those ID you require! I wanted to comment now and I couldnt ;(

The standard Wordpress default Comment settings require a name and an e-mail address. The URL is optional. I believe this combination is appropriate and helps to weed out spam commenters.

Getting comments is difficult even if you have good traffic to your blog. Being controversial in what you write is perhaps the key.

I often think about how a commentator would comment on my blog post simply by looking at the topic and know what they can contribute or correct.

For e.g. A blog post titled, "5 ways to get passive income" would have the content explain what those 5 ways are. Then for a reader to come by and found that he/she can contribute 5 more to that post, it increases value.

Another e.g., If a blog post about web development explains about PHP or Java as a programming language and then some web developers come by to read it. They would correct it by saying that its a scripting language with some online white papers to back up the claim.

So with that said, aside from getting good traffic, its also about getting the right kind of readers that would actually contribute/correct to your blog post.
