I’m not sure how much it’s going to affect your blog but Google has announced they will now be including the load time of a website when it comes to ranking for specific keywords.
I’m guessing anyone with a clean sidebar and a shared server will be fine. I don’t however know how bloggers or free hosting blogs will be affected.
If you have a free hosting solution it might be time to consider a new hosting provider that can offer you a fast loading time.

Yeah I also heard about it, its good for visitors because who want to wait for site or blog loading. If google including this in his ranking algorithm then now every webmaster should consider his/her blog loading time form now.
Speed really matters to Google. I've heard this news in the midst of facebook vs Google war. While facebook allied with Bing, and launched the new gmail killer email, Google only did improve load time by having new image formats and releasing their new ranking algo taking into consideration the load time.
Google's move was just simple but very useful in giving us better search experience.

I would say, the solution of everything will be bloggers. Free hosting with fast loading speed as it's Google's product.

Yes, I heard about this too. :)
But how to determine fair speed, since location is matter.
People from Asia will visit Asian's server faster than other.
People from USA will get faster speed to USA server.
So, how fast is fast ?
Keep pages simple, avoid too much unnecessary clutter and visual noise, like widgets, optimize images.
There are still so many sites where I find images with an incredible resolution such as 2000x3000 and those are shown smaller on the site (like maybe 250x375). But the problem is that many people are not technical and don't know that it happens...

Great I found this news. I have been trying to remove some widgets from my blog and leave oly the relevant ones to avoid my blog from taking time to load. Would check out the load time asap.
