Have you ever been to a place where you didn't really get a feel for what the place actually is?
You seem to gloss over the periphery without going into the actual essence of the place.
I am interested in videos people have made about places they have been. If not videos then articles or anything that can bring a place to life.

I went to Paris in Feb 2012. I really did not gel with anything there. The hotel was clean but way to small and overpriced - having to jump over your suitcase to use the bathroom. The people were rude, and the food was not what I was expecting( I know what french food should taste like in the best of restaurants, but this was a tourist joke)
I had been to Paris 2 yrs prior to this and had an excellent report, it was perfect. But this time it was really bad. So bad, that I tried to book my return journey within 2 hrs of me arriving. I am still annoyed about it.
Sorry to hear you had a bad experience but you should keep your mind open and go back! It really has great beauty as long as you know where to go and what to do. Just like any city you have the tourist areas which don't really represent the country, you have to move past that and dig deeper1!

Absolutely adored Paris. In fact, it's my favorite city.
My experience defied every person who warned me about the negative aspects of Paris. I wrote a few blogs about it, actually.

Been many times, learn to love it slowly with time, those days I adore it but as well i know my ways around, favorite cafes, restaurants, museums and I don't need a map, that change perspective.
