I just started my facebook account that is linked to my blog in hopes of getting more traffic to my blog. I'm finding it hard to get over the hump of just family and friends. Any suggestions?

A quick and easy way to do this is run a competition, post it up on some competition websites and you will see an increase in likes.
If you run the competition well, you will get much more readers.

As a newbie blogger I am trying out different things and having success.
Use twitter a lot with keywords as hashtags to promote your posts. Even promote old posts daily.
Start posting your blog up on other blogger websites to gain exposure and traffic.
Network with other bloggers here and comment on their blogs as much as possible. People like to be commented on and in turn will bring traffic to your blog.
Place a Facebook Like widget near the top of your blog and an email sign up widget up there too.
Write interesting and fun content a few times a week minimum. Make sure to use enough correct tag words for each post.
